Stuck in the tutorial game...

Sorry if anyone has already addressed this but I am using a disk version of the game with PS4PRO and it has done a complete install and also downloaded the latest 1.04 patch and installed it as well. I have verified it has nothing left to download yet I launch the game and it asks me my preferences for experience and skill level as well as my favorite team. It drops me into a game between Bosox and Dodgers and I can't get out of it. Only option I have is when I hit exit is "cancel" or "restart". Both options keep me in the game but will not allow me to get to main menu. Even completing the entire game doesn;t allow me to exit...

I have since checked and there is no saved game data on the hard drive to purge to reset it and I have completely deleted the game and reinstalled as well as downloaded the patch again and I get the same results.....argh....

Anyone seen this or know of a workaround?

FYI I used the same disk and installed fine on my older stock PS4 in spare room so nothing wrong with the disk.

This hasn't happened to anyone else? I'm at work but when I get home I'll try it again and see. Is it odd that it isn't creating any kind of local save data? Or does that not happen until you get past the tutorial?

What's odd is on the other PS4 I didn't even get the tutorial. It just dropped me at the main menu the very first time.

Maybe something happened during the install process. Try deleting it and reinstalling it if you haven't yet. All I can think of.

Already removed it completely and reinstalled. Even redownloaded 1.04 update as well. Hopefully it will work tonight when I get home.

Hmmm. Are you installing on an external hard drive or the internal one? Maybe that is causing the issue. I am stumped though. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

The game is still installing even though you're playing the game. There is a little green install progress meter towards the top left. When it's done installing is when you'll get to exit. Until then the only option is to restart that game.

We should probably just sticky this at the top of the page every year. Since this continually pops up.

I do agree it can be very confusing, but the game just hadn't installed yet. This happens to everyone. It takes quite a bit of time unfortunately.

To be honest you may be experiencing the first signs of an issue with your Hard drive. Have you noticed stuttering in any other high res games? The hard drives in the PS4 pros are notoriously prone to failures.

I had the same thing happen with the Show when I reinstalled it and eventually it worked but a couple months later I started playing AC Odyssey and it was skipping. Finally...total crash.

Got me a the Seagate Hybrid drive and problem solved.

Well at 1pm today it wouldn't work. The game was completely installed from the disk and the patch was installed for several hours. I left for work and completely turned off the pS4. I came home at 5pm and fired it up and it launched immediately. Could it have been still installing?? Maybe? But since it is from the bluray disk and not downloading from the web it seems unlikely. On my stock ps4 it was installed and ready in an hour or less. On the PS4 Pro it had nearly 2 hours and I removed it and reinstalled it a second time and gave it a few more hours.

Bottom line is it's working and my advice to anyone who has similar issues is give it a few hours. Even if there is no indication in the game that it is still installing and there are no signs in the PS4 Operating System that it's still installing. I know where to check in several places and it indicated it was complete. But....it is what it is.
