So far (veteran and all-star modes), I'm not having much difficulty. I'm finding that I need to be more precise to get home runs, and it's almost always when I use a power swing. A normal swing will lead to more doubles, whereas power swinging is an all-or-nothing proposition where I either pop out to first base or send the ball to Mars, no in between.

i think what skill level and what hitting style (Analog, Directional, Zone, etc) would also be helpful in this thread.Comment

Re: Anyone else struggling to hit HR?
I’d say no. I’ve played 3-4 play now games with 1-2 home runs a game. In March to October Im in May. Have only hit one home run, (walk off down 0-2 in the count) but that’s fine on a meat ball slider. Everything on veteran to start.
One thing I’m learning is the old high fast ball, even out of the zone, is gone. Some of the other usual guarantee spots are gone. You have to catch the pitcher making mistakes. Work the counts to your favor. This year is the first year I’ve really had to cut my aggressive approach down.Comment

Re: Anyone else struggling to hit HR?
I had to switch from HOF hitting to Legend hitting because I was hitting too many HRs even with pitch speed at 10. On Legend it feels right though I had to up timing to 6 since pitch speed at 10 on Legend is no joke. But it better replicates speeds IRLComment

Re: Anyone else struggling to hit HR?
I too think the hitting is fine...small sample size, but in my franchise through five regular season games, I am averaging one HR per game, a nice spread of singles, doubles and fouls. I agree with others that in '19, more precise hitting and patience is the key to some better hits. I am also playing more small ball, which is generating plenty of hits for me, rather than trying to go for the bomb on more occasions. Don't get me wrong, I still like to slam for the fences, but as others have stated, it's more of waiting for the pitcher to make a mistake as opposed to trying to force a huge hit. As a result, I am enjoying the hitting more in '19 than I have ever enjoyed it before in The Show series. I am playing on Dynamic difficulty, currently in the Veteran zone and using directional hitting.Comment

Re: Anyone else struggling to hit HR?
Not struggling hitting HRs like I thought I would because of the impressions I read here. My very first real game as the Diamondbacks, I hit a HR in the 3rd inning. I hit multiple HRs in a lot of games like 2-3 HRs. Not a HR derby with my runs, but I can hit at least one a game.

Re: Anyone else struggling to hit HR?
Well, I played a handful of games on default legend, then I decided to make the jump to legend with both pitch speeds maxed out and I've played a few games like that, and still haven't hit any bombs. I'm playing classic / directional with a clean screen and no overlays of any kind, mainly with the Braves, but I've used some various teams as well.Comment

Re: Anyone else struggling to hit HR?
Last game I hit 3 on legend analog stride with pitch speeds at 6...still testing with TNK sliders...might have to increase pitch speeds a little.

Just bite the bullet and play on max speeds. That's what I'm doing from now on no matter how many games I lose.Comment

Yes, but I always have in the show. I'm first in batting avg with three players hitting >.400 about 20 games in, but like 26th in homeruns. Playing as the Rockies.Comment
