And I'm really disappointed in my bullpen. The Rockies are a great team, but man...Shaw is a total liability, so the game is quite realistic. Also had a realization after I lost 6-7 after being up 6-2 in the 9th that if I blew a lead like this in Madden or 2k I'd be really suspicious, but in the Show I blame my overpaid reliever, adjust then move on.

Pretty disheartening, but it's made me excited to start retooling. I love this game.

Shaw is way overpaid esp. considering he only wants $1.5 mil a year, and is getting $9 mil a year.

One of my favorite things about this game is when I lose I never feel cheated, or that the game was “scripted” in any way like other sports titles. I expect my low 60’s rated relief pitcher to get lit up like a Christmas tree if he can’t find the strike zone.

It's so hard to watch. Last season I had faith that he'd turn a corner and become at least vaguely reliable, but it never happened. He also has his name crudely tattooed on his back, which isn't really relevant but I feel that it should be noted.

Kimbrel is there for the taking.

How was this post pointless? People are free to post whatever thoughts and opinions they have of the game as long as they are following he TOS. YOUR post was completely "pointless" and uneccesary. If your going to act like an a&$hat, then you don't need to be posting here anymore.

This. Madden makes it ridiculously obvious there's scripting when the CPU pulls off some super-human feat late in a game. I almost found myself blaming scripting for a blown save yesterday, but after I watched the replay it was obvious I deserved to lose. A hanging slider should be smashed. The Show feels the most fair and balanced of any sports title I've played this generation.

In my experience with 18 do what you can to break their rhythm, step off the mound etc. and vary location significantly. Use all four corners of the strike zone. Playing the matchups also helps, so get a leftie reliever in there even for just one AB if a leftie is hitting.

Ironic. This post is a lot more pointless than this thread you claim is.

He can post whatever he wants. Not sure why you felt the need to come in and be rude.

Anyways, OP, just when you think you got a decent pen, you are always reminded otherwise. Haha

Re: Just gave up 5 runs in the 9th to blow my second substantial lead in two games

I spend my bullpen money in franchise on 3 or 4 very good relievers instead of one great closer and I'm willing to leave the pitcher who worked the 8th inning in the game to work the 9th if he was pitching well. I also usually have a guy warmed up in case the closer doesn't have his best stuff.

There is some sort of momentum dynamic at work and there is a dynamic where sometimes players don't perform to their attributes - sometimes better and sometimes worse.

Nothing more frustrating in manage mode than to blow a game in the 9th.
