I'd say a combination of 75% market size and 25% win/loss record would be a pretty accurate formula and wouldn't require a ton of developer time.

Most large market teams have good enough tv deals to have a good budget. Most small market teams struggle with budget and even if they win they are still limited to only small increases in budget.

I may restart it with budgets off (I'm at the beginning of spring training anyway)

Anyone know about any restrictions further don't the line with budgets on?

I posted a question in the Q&A section. I’m dying for someone to provide some info on this too. Does turning off budgets help to fix the poor logic and difficulty of giving the guys the money they think they need (prevent free agents from sitting in the FA pool in off season) and help with extensions?

Unfortunatley, developers aren't interested in growing the franchise or RTTS modes anymore. They are concentrated on what makes money which is Diamond Dynasty. It's a shame, the day of grinding games to get the best rewards are done with. Pay to play is the way to go.

I would love to be able to set a salary cap in my MLB universe. As a Cubs user it would force me to be more careful and would level the playing field throughout the league.

I dont think thats feasible tbh. I mean, do you set it at league average budget of $170m? Some teams cant afford that. Do you set it at $110m-$120m so all teams can afford it? Then teams with current contracts of $30m are absolutely crippled.

lol! There is no pay to play, nothing is behind a paywall in this game, nothing! Sure you can spend real money to buy packs but that's it. And to get some of the rewards it is a grind. I do agree they seem to be focused more on DD, but there is absolutely no pay to play.

Weren’t there significant updates to RTTS this year?

I don’t play the mode, but the stream about the changes seemed to indicate a lot of new stuff.

I don't play RTTS either, but yes, there were changes made this year.

How do you re sign your players in season? This was the one thing that bothered me ( that and unreal contracts ). I can't seem to find the area to bring that up. Seems it actually affects players morale also.

In preseason go to the area where you can select to play the game, etc. It''s there, "contract extensions".

There is another time frame where you can do it also but I don't remember what that was.

I believe it's around the trade deadline or all star break? pretty sure it's one of those

Spring Training and then Trade Deadline Prep Phase are the two times you can offer in season contract extensions.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Honestly, in all the test franchises I have run since release I haven't even done one extension. It's not that I am against it, I just keep forgetting it's there. Hardly a franchise changing feature. It would have been better implemented if players asked for extensions or if you were notified via email a player wanted one similar to NBA 2k.
