Does MLB The Show 19 use my saved file from 18?

Now that MLB the show 19 is out I am debating on whether I want to buy it or not. One question I have after only playing MLB the show 18 for about a year now, I played RTTS only and I have several careers that I play.

If I buy MLB the show 19 and install it will it access those saved careers? I want to make sure that if I do buy it I won't have to create all my careers all over again.

On the same line of questioning, since I have MLB the show 18 can you play both 18 and 19 using the same careers and will any improvements be added no matter which version you play?

    Thanks in advance

Saves will continue via the carry over feature. But why progress made on 19 cannot be put back on 18.

Technically you can keep putting your 18 on 19 but it would overwrite your previous carry over progress. You can’t progress through both at the same time.

So I guess it would be smart for me to not by MLB the show 19 until I'm committed to only playing that. I'm still trying to figure out all the different changes it seems like they've made a a lot of changes however I can't seem to find anywhere that they list what changes they made and how they work.

I guess in this day and time were left to do her own research on YouTube but so many people who play MLB the show like the broadcaster games so it's hard finding those who actually do tutorials, at least that's my experience.

      Thanks for the reply

There are some gameplay changes and presentation changes. But it’s not a drastically new game in my opinion. However my friend who plays RTTS is really enjoying those updates. I am franchise-only.

        Best of luck

Re: Does MLB The Show 19 use my saved file from 18?

I just purchased and installed MLB the show 19, after it copied the disk and installed the game started and it went into the tutorial mode. What I was expecting to be able to do is go into the main menu so I could go to RTTS So I could select one of my careers and continue playing and learn how different 19 is then 18.

But for some reason I'm stuck in the tutorial and no matter what I do I can't get out to the main menu??? when I press the option button during the tutorial I get the options up top and the last one on the right is exit, the two choices are confirmed exit or cancel the matter which one I press it just goes back to the tutorial game.

If somebody could tell me how to get to the main menu so I could find my way to RTTS I would appreciate it

If you're referring to the Dodgers/Red Sox game, you're not fully installed yet - once the rest of the game is installed you can do whatever.

Thanks for the reply if you could expand on your explanation I would appreciate it. Not only did the game install but an update also installed. But every time I access the game I brought to a page that asked me to choose my experience level. As if am starting all over, what I'm looking to get to is the main page with all the different choices of modes.

              Thanks again

You need to select your experience level, favorite team, and maybe another thing or two.

The game is setting up your profile for MLB '19. Your USER profile is not brought over from '18. The only thing brought over are either franchise files or RTTS files.

Once you choose your experience level, favorite team, etc...then you'll get to the main page with all the different modes.

I tried that and once I selected the things that asked it brought me to the tutorial and I could either go through the tutorial or exit the game I couldn't exit out of the tutorial to a main page. I just turned my PS4 on and I'm noticing on the tab for the game MLB the show 19 on the left side of the start there's a circle going around as if something is loading and the actual game keeps Pulsating the border of the tab. So I'm just gonna let it run for a while and see what happens otherwise your explanation didn't work for me it just brings me to the tutorial

If you are on the Sox and Dodgers game there will be a green bar on the score overlay. Once that is done, then you can exit the game to the main menu. Until then, you have to play the game or walk away from the TV for a bit. I think mine took around 20 minutes. After that, you can go to the main menu and play like normal.

But as said before, you have to initially select the level, favorite team, and what not. Once on the main menu afterwards, you can customize all you like.

Yes, I did finally see that there was a green bar loading. It took about 10 to 15 minutes and then I was able to access the new menu and enter the different modes. I did find a couple things that are bit irritating but I'm not sure if it's me or the game.

                        1. They changed when you want to fast-forward through animation I used to be able to just click the X and it would go past the animation. Now you have to hold the X and after certain amount time a circle fills with blue and when it reaches the top it forwards to the next section. I know this is totally the game I just mentioned it because I think it's a bit strange they would add that.

                        2. For some reason my stubs or my levels didn't carry over from 18. I didn't have many stubs because I don't play dynasty I think I had close to 30,000 but my level was 67 and now I had to start all over at one again. Since I play wrote to the show I know the stubs won't affect me but how will the levels affect me. I went from 67 to 1.

                        3. None of my gameplay settings carried over either which kinda sucks because I have so many careers going each one I'm going to have to go in and reset them. I used to use buttons for pitching and by default it shows the meter no big deal I just had to change it back but it took a while to figure it out. I guess I'll just have to do that on each career.

                        4. This is probably the most irritating thing that I can't figure out, when I play a game it's always been so that when I'm going to be in a play it automatically just plays the game and I do whatever I have to. Now for some reason when I'm not playing it goes to some screen and it shows docs going around the bases and clicks and I don't really know what you call this page because I've never really used it but it's a little bit irritating. I did notice that if I press the Green Triangle that automatically makes me go to my next appearance and it doesn't give me that window I described above. But each game that I start I have to remember to press the green Triangle If I don't I keep going back to that window that shows all the different batters and plays. In MLB the show 18 it just automatically did that for me because I guess I selected something I don't remember what it was I wish there was a way to make it so it always goes to your next appearance without having to remember to press the green Triangle

To further answer the OP's question, I have a carryover franchise save from 17 that I brought into 18, and now I'm trying to bring that into 19.

I should be able to, but since I'm still in the 2017 calendar year, it says that I am unable to. I need to at least be in the 2018 calendar season for it to register. I do not know why.

This shouldn't affect you if you're just going from 18 to 19, but I wanted to let you know it because I never was made aware of this since this carryover thing began (and bless SDS for pretty much being the only developer out there that has this).

Thanks for your post, for the most part I'm figuring things out. In road to the show which is the only mode I really play in 18 I had several safe careers at different positions. When I first tried to play road to the show in 19, when I click continue it said no data available or no data and I kind of freaked out for second thinking that it didn't carry over all my careers. Then I noticed that there was a choice to continue from 18 and all my careers were there. I'm noticing that each time I play a career the next time when I go into 19 and just select continue it's now listed. So I guess what I'm going to have to do is to go and choose each career that I have from 18 and played least the game and then it will save it in 19.

There's a few things that are different that I'm not so thrilled about but overall I think I like the game much better, I don't know if it's my imagination but even the graphics look better so far the announcers are saying the same thing every single time I bat or pitch. That was a big irritation for me seems like they said the same things over and over and over.

I'm finding out that the pitching is different, I know if you watch a lot of the guys on YouTube when their batting their use in their zone and moving it according to the pitch. In 18 I had an area that I liked that I was good at so I would keep it there and wait for the pitch to get there if I didn't get a pitch in that area that I would just. In 19 it doesn't work like that anymore you have to pretty much just for every pitch so it's gonna take a little bit to get used to but I think it's a great game and the more I'm learning how to work it I think it's much better than 18. So far ( knock on wood ) I've not had a player walk through another or slide to a base and slide through the player at that base.

Losing all my levels I'm not sure really how it affects me yet, the stubs that I lost like I said above is no big deal because they don't allow you to use them in road to the show anyway which I think they should. But then again dynasty is their main mode and their main moneymaker so that's probably going to stay that way.

Once again thanks for your reply
