    Need Suggestion/Advice?

Hey all - Havent played MLBTS in a couple years, and I have only been casually watching baseball the last couple of seasons - so i dont know minor leagues, etc as well as i used to.

I am looking for suggestions for a team to control once the full minors rosters are complete. Basically, im looking for a bad team that has a good/promising young player or 2 and a good minor leagues. I would prefer to stay away from AL East teams - as i am a red sox fan and would rather not be in same division if can be avoided - but if TOR fits best i will deal with it.

I though about trying MIA, but they seem like such a disaster and might be too big of a challenge. I dont want a team that will be WS ready in 1 year.... my preferable timeline to contend is 3-5 years

    Appreciate any input

    Thanks!

The Giants have an aging MLB team and a few nice prospects a few years away.

Like said above, the Padres are loaded in their farm.

Miami is tough. Bad MLB team and their top prospects are a few years away.

The Rangers have a few prospects up and coming and are a rebuild.

The Tigers have some solid pitching prospects on the rise and you have the challenge of that albatross of a contract for Miggy.

The White Sox have a few prospects plus a top 5 prospect in Eloy Jimenez who is at most a year away.

There are a few more but those are some good variety of choices and all out of the AL east.

          I like using the Royals.

The team is largely trash, but Mondesi is a really solid young SS. Whit Merrifield is already 30 but is young in terms of service time and is on a team-friendly deal. Nick Pratto and Brady Singer are promising prospects (at least in the roster I have) in the minors.

There isn’t much beyond that, but there were at least enough assets for me to acquire a few more intriguing prospects via trade. They’re not a ready-made team, but if you’re willing to sim a season and make a few moves, they can easily become one. Helps that outside of a couple starting pitchers (Duffy and Kennedy), there aren’t any bad contracts to worry about. Tons of flexibility.

Yeah - my plan was to sim maybe the 1st season, maybe 2 but i was going to play some of the minors... maybe pick a few SP i like down there and Play a lot of their starts. Based on the suggestions i have been looking at a few teams... deciding between CIN, DET, and TEX i think

If you want to increase the odds of getting some pitching prospects you like (and are willing to cheat a bit before you play any games), what I did is basically restart about 20-30 times and look at the blue chippers available. Ended up using the sixth class I saw, which would’ve added about 15 minutes to my initial franchise setup time had I just stopped there. The rest were mainly for science. (Guy I got ended up being a 75 overall, 97 potential SP, so I’m happy.)

There are a lot of draft classes with zero generated blue chippers I like, so I to least wanted to ensure I used my first top pick on someone I’d want to use. I hate when the blue chip offerings are a handful of closers and then a few position players who are all six years away.

I had the second overall pick, so the odds were really high of me getting the guy I wanted. Will be less cheesy with any of those teams.

I do a lot of stuff that wouldn’t appeal to those who seek a realistic sim experience, but because this all happens before a single pitch is thrown (unless you play spring training), it felt like less of a cop out.
