Possibly player lock or just quick manage everything in between. I play with moments on as well so will get into some more games that way.

That was the reason I started the thread haha. Just looking to add more variation into my franchise. I like to get deep into my franchise so playing 162 games isn’t an option for me but this thread has helped with some awesome ideas!

If I played one game a series it'd be like 52 games a season which is a little too much but the play 1, quick manage 5 is only 27 games so i was looking for something in between so I came up with this

Play 1, Quick manage 5 to keep the rotation moving, play MLB/Team Debuts, and when i quick manage i'll play all extra inning games at home.

I like this idea. I might do a spin on this.... play 1, manage 1, player lock one and use that wheel for the other 2 games.

I’ve been playing MLBTS 19 way more then i thought and realizing I’m already to August in my Rockies franchise haha. This approach will help slow things down and enjoy the season while not having to grind out 162 games.

Re: How do you play games in your franchise?

I did this back in '13, I think.

For the regular season, I'd play the 1st game of every series and the result would determine how much I play/sim the rest of the series. My goal was to win every - or at least tie - every series. If I made the playoffs, I'd play every game.

          I win the 1st game:

2 game series: sim last game

3 game series: sim 2nd game.
If I win 2nd game, sim 3rd game.
If I lose 2nd game, play 3rd game.

4 game series: sim 2nd game.
          If I win 2nd, sim 3rd & 4th.
          If I lose 2nd, play 3rd. If I win 3rd, sim 4th.
          If I lose 2nd, play 3rd. If I lose 3rd, play 4th.

          Lose 1st game:

2 game series: play last game

3 game series: play 2nd game
          If I win 2nd, play 3rd.
          If I lose 2nd, sim 3rd.

4 game series: play 2nd game
          If I win 2nd, sim 3rd. If I win 3rd, sim 4th.
          If I lose 2nd, play 3rd. If I win 3rd, play 4th.
          If I lose 2nd, play 3rd. If I lose 3rd, sim 4th.

I think instead i'll play opening day and the home opener and then quick manage up until draft so i can easily scout for the draft in one sitting and then after the draft play one game per series which would end up being around 35 total games played. on top of that i'd play the debuts and extra innings and such.

Started playing every 6th game due to this thread. Thank you,

Quick question. When do you sub out based on energy. Seems to drop pretty fast.

Any time there is a game that isn’t close (4 or more runs) I will work my bench players in after the 7th inning. It keeps them getting regular at-bats and keeps my starters energy up. Otherwise, I try not to let anyone’s energy bar get too far below half. Performance suffers with lower energy anyway, plus its not worth the injury risk.

my next team will be an Orioles season, road games - bat only / home games - pitch only

Re: How do you play games in your franchise?

A fun, different way to play is I’ll play 5 innings of whatever game I choose. Guess you can call it, 5-Inning Must Play Rule. Lol I typically play one gm per series in chise. I usually play first 2-3 innings of a gm and I play the last innings. If I play innings 1 and 2, I’ll sim or quick Manage to start in the 7th and finish game out. If I play first 3 innings, I’ll sim or quick Manage to the 8th. Unless the game is a blowout, I’m losing or winning by 6 or more runs typically I just sim to the end. It’s pretty fun way I’ve played The Show for Years to move quicker in a chise.

Re: How do you play games in your franchise?

I’ve been doing the every 6 games/rotate the starters thing for a few years now but I noticed I was missing out on playing a few teams by doing this. So this I went over the Dodgers schedule and circled about 30 games. I make sure to play each Division rival once at home and once on the road. Then I made sure I play ever other team once in their stadium. There’s only stadiums I’ll miss out on playing in due to the interlague schedule.

I don’t play any Spring, but I sim it with a close eye on who’s performing well to decide who makes the cut.

In the playoffs I quick manage games until its a win or go home situation, which is where I take over and try to win that one game.

I feel this strategy will allow me to complete a few seasons, which is something I’m rarely able to do.

Mine is pretty boring, but I just do the quick manage. Don't really have the time to play full games and get the full franchise experience. I like rebuilding a team and handling all the "back-room" ops.

Just the person I want to talk to. I've just started MLB the show for the first time and what I'd like to do in Franchise mode when playing out a game is to quick manage (sim) some of the innings. But when I play out a game and hit the option button to see options such as Quick Manage, what I find is that the Quick Manage option is usually locked. Some of the other options are also locked (like Exit!). So I resume the game and try pressing the option button again later. Then some other random subset of options is locked. But usually, the Quick Manage option just stays locked. What gives? Is there are way to make these options stay unlocked?

In the past I’ve only played a handful of games each season then simmed the rest.

In my current franchise, I simmed a few years to get a roster I’m happy with and have played all games so far (but I’m only six games in). Will probably do the quick manage five, play one method going forward. I initially wanted to try playing a full season, but I just don’t have the time (and would like an on base percentage that is slightly higher than my batting average).
