That Ultimate Team stuff destroyed a little bit offline sportsgames.

Madden or NHL removed PS2 era features in Franchise mode and dumbed all down. Since years offline players complaining about the lack of effort put into offline modes.

One of the rare Sportsgames who put passion in offline modes are NBA2K. They have a strong franchise mode which should be standard in any sportsgame out there.

We have 2019 and look at the lame Franchise modes in Madden, NHL, FIFA or The Show...I don't think it will getting better over the next years...

Franchise, isn't fun didn't you hear Magic Johnson?

In mlbts the players don't tell me how to run the franchise although I wouldn't be surprised if that gets added as the new feature next year.

The simple reason is, they will lose thousands of customers.



The franchise mode is an industry standard. If MLB were to remove it from their game, they would be taking a needless step backwards compared to every other sports franchise. No other sports game will, or ever would, remove franchise mode.



I for one will not ever buy a sports game without a franchise mode. There are MANY players who feel the same.

The lack of updates and attention to franchise mode in games is a half a step behind what removing franchise mode would be.

They remove the mode, they don't get my money.
They neglect improvements to the mode, they don't get my money.

I agree but the only problem is they don't care about 'your' money. As long as MOST other Franchise players will continue to fall for their "latest greatest" sales pitch year after year, for the reasons i listed in my previous post, they will keep it in, and essentially unchanged. Not because they care anything about that group (they don't) but because it is extra revenue - bonus revenue.

Until it hurts them financially, their hand will never be forced to make a decision about Franchise mode. So it will stay basically as-is (i.e. Online play improvements continuing to change Offline play, and then being sold to us as if it is "new and improved.") until the majority stops falling for it.

But I'm not really sure losing our (comparitively) little niche would ever "hurt" them financially. Because pumping out essentially a photocopy of the same product year after year - with only a glitter-covered bone or two thrown to faithful "glass half-full" Franchise customers (whom they know they will continue to buy it if they make just it sound good) - is akin to playing with house money.
