DeRosa is awesome and doesnt sound like a machine reading lines. He actually sounds like he is having a real conversation.

Vasgersian always sounds like a robot, and none of his deliveries have any passion behind them. The home run calls are brutal.

Plesac is middle of the road for me, I don't even notice him most of the time.

Sounds like SDS has some kind of relationship with Vasgersian, though. So I really dont expect him to leave until he doesnt want to do it anymore.

I said this somewhat recently on another post (I think) that I felt sports games these days would probably benefit from just hiring voice actors instead of real broadcasters. Sure the immersion of hearing people we recognize is a thing I know, but most broacasters that do games don't put the same emotions into the role.

Voice actors would probably allow for them to have more varied lines as I would imagine getting some of these guys for any quality length of time to record isn't ideal.

I think the 2K series helps themselves with the rotating color commentary so it doesn't feel as stale as quickly.

I've seen complaints about Matt in the game for a long time. It is true he sounds nothing like when he actually calls a game. I know the developers said they have tried to bring out his emotions more when recording. When fans here said they should replace him, they said he wasn't going anywhere.

I hear that repetitive comment every Kris Bryant at bat. There’s various, more significant features to improve upon before even touching up commentary, but it’d be quite refreshing to hear some new voices in the booth one of these years.

With that being said, I was curious...if you could realistically choose any commentary team to call the games on The Show, who would you pick?

I know folks tend to hate Joe Buck, but he’d be acceptable to me, if it means getting rid of the current three. I’d take Dan Shulman, Jon Sciambi, Tim Kurkjian. Not necessarily those three mentioned together, but guys like that. There’s obviously others as well, but I just wanted to name a few.

        What about you?

For color commentary, my list has one name on it. John Smoltz.

For play by play, I vote for Bob Uecker. Funniest man to ever call baseball games.

Mostly with Plesac, I’ve heard some 13-15 seconds bits of commentary about one specific play...that’s too long for me...I’d rather have 3 different 5 seconds bits, that could be applied to 3 different game situations...that could help to stop the commentary getting old so quickly...

I was YouTubing Gary Thorne calls and came across this video. Not sure if anyone has posted this but here’s a rough idea of what MLBTS would sound like with Gary Thorne.

Haha that's my video. That certainly wasn't quick to edit.

I was thinking of finding a way of isolating some Matt Vasgersian calls from Sunday Night Baseball and syncing them up with MLB The Show gameplay, just to get the difference both in commentator quality and audio quality. I'm still looking into that.

I also still think that's how they should have Vasgersian record lines in this game. Play back audio samples of real life, then tell him: "Do that."

Plesac needs a speech coach , he mangles his line then starts over . why does the Studio think this is charming . he also talks like he has a mouthful of oatmeal . commentate during the game , eat your hotdog after it , Dan :angrychair:

I always think of this video when commentary threads pop up.

Sad that SDS hasn't even come close to commentary this good in all the years.
