Re: I am tired of the CPU BP managment

Maybe related, maybe not. But another thing I noticed is that when rosters expand, the CPU seems to heavily use some of the callups. These tend to be younger guys and are among the lowest rated relievers in the bullpen. I get that if a non-competing team wants to get some younger guys experience. But this even happens with teams in playoff races in close games. At least that's what i noticed last year down the stretch in 18. I add that here because I'm pretty confident they haven't changed CPU bullpen management in the new game.

The CPU is even worse in 3 inning DD games. The starter will give up 6 runs and be completely out of gas and they'll keep him in there, then they always bring in the long reliever, even in the 3rd inning lol

There is a work around to this issue, although it is tedious. Turn the CPU manager hook down to zero and either:

        A) play with two controllers, allowing you to warm up relievers for them while you're pitching.

        B) Switch teams and use the quick manage trick to get a new reliever in.

Option a is more immersive, but like I said, tedious.

Option B is much easier but way less immersive.

Does this mean we need to have the rotation/bullpen set to manual all the time?

The biggest thing I've noticed is seeing the same relievers thoughout the entire series, it's a little annoying but then again, if I didn't have success against a reliever, I can try again and seek revenge!
I guess it's all in how you look at it, flawed? Yes but it's still a very fun game. I'm trying not to dwell on what isn't just like real-life anymore and it's been more fun.

This has been a major issue for 10+ years. This and franchise mode lacking and graphics lacking are the big 3 reasons I cant get the game any more. Outside of those 3 things the game is just about perfect but those 3 problems are big. The thing is with BP management is that RP are keept in to long and CPU dont known how to use left handed specialist.

Pitching changes done in quick manage will result in an instant change of pitcher with the new pitcher fully warmed up and ready.

So you can pop into quick manage, change the pitcher, and hop out, and it will be like you properly warmed up a reliever. It's also a work around for the bug where pitchers come in with energy missing no matter how well you warmed them up.

However, doing this trick can sometimes trigger another bug that makes the in game stats go wonky.

Other thing I noticed. They always seem to bring in pitchers that aren’t even the one of the 2 that was in the bullpen warming up. Yet that pitcher is still dominating while miraculously being fully warm. Bring in whoever’s in the bullpen not skipping them and pick a random one sitting.

Re: I am tired of the CPU BP managment

I had a decent game yesterday with the BP and the ONLY reason I did was it was a 1-0 close game. so therefore the CPU pitcher starter went deeper in the game and they went and used their setup guy because the game was close.. it was enjoyable because it felt like a real game and I didn't have to do any A1 management with their pitching

the only time the A1 uses good BP management is a low scoring close game, all that goes out the window if the CPU has to change pitchers in the in the 4th and 5th innings.

I use option B.. but option A I might try that next so that I can do every single move..

with the Hook slider on 0.. will the CPU even try to warm up pitchers?? or even hook the starter at all?? I am guessing it still will if it is 8-0 game after 2 innings. however if it was a 8-6 game I am sure the CPU wouldn't hook the pitcher

I had a case where I won a game 11-9 and Jordan Zinnaman gave up 6 eared runs but got the win.... I bet if I had not got any offence and was down 6-2 the CPu would have hooked up after 3 innings.

that is the biggest issue with the A1 it goes by the score not the stamina or the situation. the logic is terrible
