This may be off topic. But I’m having an absolute blast with The Show 18.

This will be like a blog, just warning you all.

So my story is this, I didn’t buy The Show 15 through 17, I took time away from video games through these years. The last The Show game I bought before 18 was 14 for the PS3 back when it came out.

I finally bought a PS4 last year around July, as I eventually picked up 18 in about mid August. Didn’t play a whole lot of 18 until now because now I’m hyped for Baseball and I’ve caught up with playing a lot of other PS4 games that were new to me.

But damn, I’m having a blast with this game (18). I was tempted to get 19 obviously as it is the most up to date game, but I some how resisted. But I’ve been playing Franchise and DD. With DD I’ve not spent a dime of my own money and I’m having a lot of fun just slowly building my DD team. This is my first real venture into DD. It’s pretty damn fun.

So what’s my point? I don’t even know. I just feel like I could play 18 all year this year. Not to knock on 19, I could buy it at any moment. But I feel like 18 is just an awesome game with both content and gameplay, it’s like when you know you’ve hit a gem of a game it’s hard to give it up.

If you think 18 is a gem, 19 is better.. The gameplay is a lot better in 19 than 18 IMO.

Not sure why you would think it is off topic to talk about one of the show versions in the show forum. Just because 2019 is out doesn't mean people should stop discussing other versions if they see fit. Heck Madden has a boatload of thread about all the other versions that are better than this years; pretty sure those same threads will be re-started again after next years game comes out.

18 was the very best......till 19 came out.

And yes I have been saying this every cycle........because it is freaking true.

They raise the bar in terms of gameplay and presentation every single year!!!!

I'd ride 18 as far as I could go, until I needed a new season schedule. 19 will be ready & waiting when it gets the call up

I love 19 but 18 is a fantastic game as well.

'18 is a great game and this year's is at least a little better. If you didn't play much '18 or got it later in the season there's nothing wrong with continuing on.I hate when some people on any of these forums are dismissive of a previous year's version that they loved to promote the current version.

In fact if you don't feel you need to buy the current version when it comes out it saves you some money to get in the habit of buying each Black Friday.

I've consistently maintained that I'm sticking with 18 because I'm impressed with the game and have worked my sliders to the point that they play the game perfectly (for me). Nothing I've seen with respect to franchise mode in 19 has inspired me to pick it up and with issues like the spring training playing time allocation seemingly not fixed yet alongside legacy issues like bullpen AI I stand by my decision. I think SDS need to know they lost at least one of us because of their lack of new franchise mode features even if it's a one man crusade.

That's not to say if they fix 19 I won't pick it up at some point and continue my franchise from there, but I'm content with 18 for now and don't see that changing.

I'm in the same boat. I love hearing that 19's game play is a tonne better than 18, but given that I seem to have less time to play now, I'm finding it tougher to justify $90 Canadian to pick it up until I stop seeing some of these glitch threads.

Can't wait, but also waiting if that makes sense!

You'll do fine sticking with 18. If you could lay out everything in both games on two tables, then remove everything from the tables that is the exact same - (leaving only the new "perks" of 19 on the table)... The stuff left on the table wouldn't even be worth anywhere close to $60 American. In fact, i would say stick with 18 unless you are more of an online player, or an arcadey 'plug and play' type player as opposed to a realistic/sim type player.

'18 is a damn fine game. I played the hell out of it.

'19 is a more polished version of '18, with gameplay and presentation being improved. Gameplay wise, the fielding in '19 is much better than '18, and easily the best the series has had to offer. Hitting and pitching have been improved, but the improvement isn't near as drastic as that of fielding.

Presentation, especially in franchise mode, is far better than '18 as well.

Are these improvements worth the $60 upgrade? Well that's up for each individual to decide. Myself, I think it was vastly worth it, but I also played over 500 games of '18, so maybe I had more of a desire to play the newest installment.

IMO, whether you stick with '18 or upgrade to '19, you can't go wrong.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Ughhhhh. I had to stop in at a friends place earlier and quickly looked through Ridin's rosters. Immediately broke down and got 19.

It's a shame that some of that money doesn't go to the fine folks that work their balls off to improve this game at that level.

Thanks for the messages though. I'm sure I'm going to play the heck out of it.
