Nail a slider set you like. People bitch and moan on the show nation. Developers tune the game to accommodate. Adjust you sliders again. People bitch and moan some more. Developers tune the game. Rinse repeat. I honestly don't know if I have the energy for the show this year. I am testing sliders more than I actually get to play. Sports gaming is becoming an excercise in futility. They can say they didn't do any tuning with this patch all they want, but I was getting a nice balance pre patch and now every single hit, I mean every single hit even hone runs are weak contact.

It's a placebo affect. This latest patch did nothing to the gameplay. I'm getting the same results as before.Comment

I would say definitely give it more time and a larger sample size. Baseball stats can lie like the devil in the short term.. so give it a few days for stats to stabilize a bit.
But, that being said, once you nail that slider set, do what i did last year and disconnect from online. You don't need any more patches anyway. While everyone was complaining about hitting mine just kept playing beautifully.
Obviously this isn't practical for everyone, if they need to connect for other games,play online, or have others using the same PS4. But if you don't need online, unplugging will give you much more fun playing time with your slider set.Comment

I’m not noticing any difference with hitting but I keep my sliders on default except for pitch speed and injuries.
I really believe we’d all enjoy our games more if we would stop looking under the hood for problems and just enjoyed the game for what it is.
Remember gaming is supposed to be fun

It's a shame we can't pick and choose which games we want updated on the PS4.
I share your sentiment, I have 18 playing perfectly for me and I'm in no hurry to return to square one with 19. There's a danger that sports games stop being 'fun', with so many taking the competitive element to the level where they treat it like their job and therefore just 'expect' it to work the way they want, to others who spend above and beyond the value of the disc and expect a 'return' on their investment.

Without it being mentioned on the site, I wouldn't have known that a patch took place, because gameplay for me is the same as it was prior to 1.08.
I smacked the snot out of the ball last night in my two games, one against the Braves and one against the Giants. One hit was a laser off the bat of Alex Reyes of all people. He pulled the ball to left and it banged up against the wall for a long single.
He drove in a run though.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

If you download the game from the interweb (most games but I don't know about NHL so that's cool they let you do that ) you get stuck with patches/tuning changes. I buy discs. I put the disc in, load the game(s), get them to where I want, then disconnect from said interweb. If after a new patch has been out for a while that adds good content and I see when folks here actually discuss the game (and not attack each other) that there isn't any real gameplay or franchise issues introduced, I'll jump back on get the update then go dark again. MOst of the time it works (Fifa, the Show 2017). Sometimes it doesn't (Madden 17: I would have kept the stupid looking line drive 30 yard punts but a latter patch reverted things back to 15 yard sky high punts while 'fixing' something else).
I know it's convenient to have it downloaded but I do find discs serve me well until they allow us like mentioned above to keep ourselves on a particular patch/tuning set.Comment
