I think I would rather hear “flat out, ...” from MLB commentators than “at the end of the day, ...” from the NBA and NFL ones. Any game is going to have repetitive commentary if you play enough.
In general baseball idioms and catchphrases are much more pleasing to hear than football or basketball ones, I just wish they used quotes as suggestive.
Sure football has “gap penetration” but how the phrase is spoken isn’t as sensual and pleasing to the ear as “ropes a shot into the gap that dribbles past the defense, up against the wall”Comment
