SDS IF READING PLEASE ALLOW DISABLE MORALE
SDS please allow us to disable morale. It is unrealistic and is killing player ratings. Aaron Judge has a 4 overall rating hit (big drop in HR power) just because he is making league minimum (-10) and one other silly thing (-10). This is just one example. There are many others. I don't mind the concept but SDS should disable or allow disable until it can be implemented properly.

Extensions only affect the following year though don't they? So wouldn't actually fix this as he'd still be making the same in the current yearComment

Re: SDS IF READING PLEASE ALLOW DISABLE MORALE
My team got a pretty big morale boost right before the trade deadline when I ended up resigning most of them.
I agree that the morale system is a good idea poorly implemented, but there are work arounds.
For example: Trout is #1 in my batting order, and then before every game in the pre-game setup I move him to his true spot in the order; #2. That way I still get the morale boost of him knowing he's a star on the team while still getting him to bat in the spot where he is truly most effective.

Re: SDS IF READING PLEASE ALLOW DISABLE MORALE
You can change their role during the extension talks. The drawback is they will accept that role for 1 season then after that they go back to telling you what their role should be. If possible, it's best to sign them to a 1 year extension to avoid that, but many will not accept only 1 year.
My thinking is they should either decline to sign with a reduced role expectation or just accept it for the length of the contract.Comment

Re: SDS IF READING PLEASE ALLOW DISABLE MORALE
I really hope they work on things they already have like player morale. I love the idea, but it has it’s flaws.
In the meantime I am in year 3 of my carryover Yankees franchise from MLB 17 and Judge is not making what he wants but I have no ratings hit.

Re: SDS IF READING PLEASE ALLOW DISABLE MORALE
Morale is mostly cosmetic. I have players who are unhappy about this or that and I just don't see it "effecting" much of anything. Example, I have a pitcher pitching in the Ace spot (should be a #4 or 5 pitcher) and is estatic and he has a plus 5 ERA. At the same time, I have a "Star" batter (whos mad) hitting 8th and he's my only north of .300 batter right now.
Morale happy or upset, they still go through streaks and slumps. I just don't see a big effect from morale.
I look at morale and try to keep guys happy, but in the end, they play where and when they play.
I think its a fun system and just like everything, could be tweaked to be better, but its such a minute tool in the whole scheme of the game, that I don't even pay attention half the time.Really wish sports games played to ratings!
Only thing SIM about sports games now, are the team name and players

I'm not saying that they don't play a factor, because they definitely do, and no, the morale system isn't perfect (Why would someone be upset hitting 2nd?), but the end effect is minimal.2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

Re: SDS IF READING PLEASE ALLOW DISABLE MORALE
With madden adding to franchise for the second year in a row (shocking since EA stared this downward spiral in sports gaming), I really hope the show takes a hint and makes some substantial upgrades next year. This will be the last year I accept any excuses from SDS. Honestly, I wouldn't even be dissapointed with no big features. I honestly just want outdated functions to be re engineered and updated. Give me a better scouting, draft, player development model and I am good to go.Comment

Correct me if i am thinking wrong, but is there anything that says a 4 point drop to a Judge's Overall due to morale will even affect Power to a noticeable degree? I would think the effect on Power would be so minimal that, if ever noticeable, it would only be noticeable over a full season. And then maybe only dropping HR's by a few.
Ive done lots of simming with both adjusted contracts (so no morale loss) and default contracts (with morale loss) and i have seen 50+ HR from Aaron Judge - WITH a 4 point morale penalty, and 35 HR from him with ZERO morale penalty. And usually hitting above .300 either way. And HR numbers everywhere in between with both. I sim with no injuries, so he played pretty much every single game.
I guess maybe it could make a difference actually playing with him (?), but i have seen no noticeable difference when i play with my guys who have morale penalties. So, like i said i have finally considered it essentially cosmetic also. Either that, or it might even take playing 5-10 full seasons to see some trend that morale affects.Comment

IMO. the mistake would be if they accepted the role for the life of the extension....not the way it is now.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: SDS IF READING PLEASE ALLOW DISABLE MORALE
Example: I have a young player (75 overall) I extend for a 3 year deal with a "platoon" role. He's good with that. He has a stellar season and his overall shoots up to the low 80s (and the splits dissipate to a degree). NOW, that next year, is he really going to want to be treated as a platoon guy after that kind of growth? Probably not....he knows he has improved and will want to be treated accordingly (i.e. with an everyday or possibly star role).
IMO. the mistake would be if they accepted the role for the life of the extension....not the way it is now.
No, the mistakes I'm referring to are my own. Some guys on my team are going to be pissed off in a few years. I just signed two sophomore starting pitchers to massive contacts in one of those spend more now to save more later type scenarios. I have gave them both the rotation expectation. They are both going to expect to be the ace in the future, no doubt. Just an example, I've got a lot of other young players who are for sure going to be asking for bigger roles and I just cannot provide.

Re: SDS IF READING PLEASE ALLOW DISABLE MORALE
I tried it twice before I posted. The first time he accepted the deal but he still wasn't happy so I rebooted , gave him an extra $500 grand for a shade under 6 mill. Bingo bango bongo he was happyOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23
