Yeah...again I am getting so much hit variet.

Gappers, off the wall, down the line, bleeders, bloopers.

The one thing they are missing is a true Baltimore Choppers! Would love to see that.

But I am miffed that you are not getting the amazing hit variety many of us are experiencing.

I can get some hit variety, just none off of good contact. Hits down the line come from just early or just late timing but are far more rare than foul balls. I can get liners into the gap, by which I mean the ball is hit about ten feet in the air and 20 feet into the outfield for a single.

What I don't see is any hit variety within the Good/Good window. If it is a line drive, it will either be a really fast really low line drive that beats the infielders and gets scooped in the outfield for a single. Or it will be a hard hit line drive straight at an outfielder. Or it will be one of those weird liners in the gap that despite being perfectly placed and hit 100+ mph are still routinely caught by the most average of outfielders. Nothing is ever over the outfielders head. Nothing ever reaches the wall unless it is a home run.

What hitting mechanic are you using?

I love people who complain and exaggerate to try to make some sort of grand point. You literally have not hit 10 balls to the wall? Then either you are lying or you aren't very good at hitting should lower the difficulty. I have played maybe a total of 15 to 20 games and while I am not a great hitter I have had plenty of game where I have put up 10+ runs where I and hitting a lot of gappers (not many HR's for me). Sure you are going to hit hard hit outs and some games are going to be frustrating, but it doesn't happen every game, that is for sure.

I would say there are two things that have really helped me.

            1. Using the sliders for what they are for. I know a lot of people feel that the default out of the box sliders are great, but I have been using TKN's sliders for the last week or so and have had great results. Find a set of sliders, or mess with the sliders yourself to see if that helps.

            2. Changing the batting camera has helped me immensely. I know you claim that you are getting good/good feedback constantly, but I find that hard to believe if you aren't getting any gappers. Changing from the default camera to the retro camera, and I have been able to read pitches a lot better.

              Any slider adjustments?

I use Zone hitting and have had a vast array of hit variety in my games. I'm not sure what is the difference between my experience and yours???

i just had an instance where my ball went through my bat.

i had this funny feeling i had lined the ball up well and timed it well and could not believe how i missed it and sure enough i go into replay and see that the ball goes right through the bat!

among other things that have gone horribly wrong with this game i am just not sure i can take this. i love baseball but this is ridiculous. the game has become random to cater to casuals and i think they were hoping us hardcores would not notice.

i settled by not playing online as that is a travesty and decided to go back to playing offline and sure enough the same bugs are still in this game.

been playing this game for almost 10 years but i think i need to put this game away.

my bat going through the ball could be the final straw.

I guess it's been said that it doesn't go through the bat during live play but only in replay. I remember reading that some what recently on here.

I'm getting gappers but they either fall short and get cut off mid outfield, or get caught mid outfield. I can't get any life drives past the outfielders.

Uhhh WHAT? I know what you were referring to but that is when you 'hit' the ball that we've seen the replay and the ball goes through the bat but this is a case where i was on the ball and the ball goes through the bat and i struck out as a result!

                        see the difference?

Been playing this game since 989 days. Love it. Buy it every year and pretty decent at it. Usually just H2H matchups and usually in the top 200 every year (around 300 this year). Whatever whatever not really about that.

To give you idea, play HOF hitting and pitching. No guess pitches and no quick games. Usually use zone, but when slumping use directional.

So here is my beef. Especially in the last few years, hitting seems to be WAY too pre-determined than ever before. I will square up with someone like Mitch Haniger (Go M's) with good contact right in the middle of the plate...and fly out. I'll push the ball to right field on a fastball on the outside edge....and its a ground out. I've seen on these boards its always late is on time and good timing doesn't matter...but seriously this is crazy. Played a guy the other day (Reds V. Braves), dude struck out 19 times! A good 90% of my swings were good timing right smack dab on the ball and nothing! Went to the 12th and he sac'd in a run. I'm not asking for 9-8 ballgames every game, but come on! Good timing with a top 10 hitting team in the game against a 70 overall pitcher should get more than 4 hits. It makes the game seem already planned. The skill level doesnt seem to matter anymore it just depends on where the computer wants it.

I dont know man. For the love of God I'm going to throw my controller out the window! I cant be the only one dealing with this right? I know I'm not God's gift to this game either, but I'm not some scrub either. I just need someone to tell me I'm not crazy and help anyway possible.

here's some advice....patience at the plate(especially in the first two innings), for two reasons. One is it's just good basic at bat strategy. It makes the pitcher come into the zone more, makes them throw more pitches, etc. But second and maybe more importantly, the Pitcher Confidence and HR/9 stat is kinda broken. For Pitcher Confidence, that's why I mentioned patience is key in the first two innings. IMO, PC gets too high too fast, meaning that if you dont force the pitcher to throw a fair amount of pitches and get a hit or two, pitchers get very hard to get hard contact on and to get hits. HR/9 is similar in that pitchers with a very high HR/9 result in Good/Good or Squared UP, both with high exit velocity(even with high power guys), to be nothing more than lineouts in the outfield with plenty of regularity. IMO, PC should do nothing more than maybe give a bit of extra velocity and give a pitcher a boost in pitch placement. But it effects BABIP way too much on balls that are timed right and squarely hit. If I sit on a pitch, time it well, and hit it squarely, it shouldnt matter what PC is(or HR/9) in determining where the ball or goes or how hard it is hit. I mean I get it, it's a way of RNG, but I think it needs to be toned down.

If you want evidence of this, play a game and for the first two innings, strikeout alot. Ok, then revert back to actually trying to hit and you'll see very few hits if any for the next few innings, even on properly timed, squarely hit balls.

And no, I'm not saying we should expect a hit every single time we have good timing and good ball contact, but if you want to negate the bit the OP-ness these two things have, you've got to be on your A-game when you start the game.

Thanks all for the responses (even some of the jokesters on here). Dont think I've had a post level to four pages haha.

So I want to clarity that this is strictly online. Im sure if I messed with the sliders off-line, I would probably just move it to reflect how I wanted it to be.

My main beef is head to head. This I guess could also be in DD, but I dont play it as much. I also want to say I enjoy that there is variety and not the same basic base hits. Ive seen some bloopers score some, some doubles, the occasional home run. That part I really do enjoy. And I dont suck every game where its 1-0 lol I still have games where I win 11-3, 9-2 etc...but even when I win, those games I'm off on hitting and yet I'm racking base hits on very late swings or very early WAY more often than good timing and good contact swings. I understand if the player hits like 55 overall against lefties or something like that...but its people like Arenado who are popping up fly balls down the middle. And again, I know "its baseball it happens" and I'm not even saying that either...I'm just saying in terms of variety, I would LOVE to see people get more rewarded for that on higher difficulties. I see too many fly outs/ground outs/completely missing the ball.

There was a great post by Wilhelm in this where he sees variety but mostly not on good contact. You see a TON of line drive base hits that rack doubles or a basic single on good timings. Most of my HR's, triples, etc come from just early, just late, etc. THAT is what irritates me about it. Shouldnt have used pre-determined as that seems to be a buzz word for people who suck apparently and use it as a crutch (or at least that's what I'm seeing). When the game 1st came out, I felt they had it really well done where good/good was rewarded more than now. After a few updates, seems like last year on a more worse scale. Just my .02.

Anyways, love the feedback! Thanks all
