    WTF Fielding

Title says it all. This happens to me, I'd say, once every 3 or 4 games. It's cost me a win in at least one game in the past.

Basically, I will gain full control of my fielder, and I will ease up on the analog stick so as to not overrun the baseball. But instead the game puts me in no man's land and my fielder just cluelessly walks past the baseball.

Is no one else experiencing this?

I had that issue with a 64 rated OF in a game. He got sent down to Triple A and was sent to practice on his fielding

Yes. This is one of the most frustrating things in this game. I can't explain the rage I feel when an inning ending flyout turns into a double or triple which leads to a rally and eventually a loss.

Also, not a fan of when the fielder puts his glove in the air to catch the ball, and the ball just simply goes right over his arm. Very frustrating.

Also that was your own fault. I'm not a stick skill fella but that issue was on you. Can't zig zag like that

You think i zig-zagged like that on purpose? I only went back & forth because my fielder didn't get down to field the ball. At some point the fielder should have settled into the glove on the ground animation, which would happen 100% of the time in that situation in real life unless the fielder suffers a momentary stroke.

I get that some fielder's are worse than others, but if that's the case then different & appropriate animation should play out. I've also had this happen to Harper, McCutchen, Franco, and other fielders. If it's a rating issue, this isn't how it should be represented in the game, with a (lack of) animation making the fielder look completely incompetent.

also, I don't know how things were in MLB18 because I skipped it, but this junk didn't happen to me in MLB17. If I get Bill Buckner'd and the ball goes through my fielder's legs, I'll deal with it. But this stuff is nonsense.

I agree with the OP. Several people are too quick to defend SDS and overlook the game’s shortcomings. The game is fun, nobody’s arguing that, but it has issues. The sooner we acknowledge them, the sooner we can expect better from developers. If we settle for less, that’s all we’ll get.

I had something like this happen just TODAY in the bottom of the 13th inning in a 5-5 game with a runner on 3rd and 2 outs. Easy fly ball down the line I had plenty of time to get to, and my outfielder overran it and then turned around and overran it going the other way.

That cost me my very first online DD game. Needless to say that was my first and last online match I’ll ever play.

This happened occasionally on MLB18 too. It's pretty rare on ground balls like that in my experience. What should happen is that when you get into position to field a ball, your player kind of locks into an animation and fields the ball. What happens occasionally is that the animation just fails to fire and you're stuck running back and forth like this. You can feel the difference when it happens. It's a clear bug. The one situation where I found it was alarmingly common were bloop basehits that bounced high, like head level or above. The fielders never seem to put their glove up to field it. But it's really not productive that there's always someone to say "it's clearly your fault" for obvious fielding bugs. I don't see the point of that. There are fielding errors that are the user's fault, but this is obviously not that. Anyone who has played knows the exact situation because it happens from time to time.

Thank you. I knew I wasn't the only one...

As for the "it's your fault" people. There's always these type of people in the bunch: developer apologists that insist the game is as good as it gets and doesn't need tweaking/bug fixing. Cheers to you for hindering progress...

I love this game. But it's extremely frustrating to grind an entire game and have it ruined by inexplicable moments like these.
