    My Usual Issue v.19

Welcome to The Show 19. Again I keep restarting franchises since the OSFM roster dropped. I enjoy the team building aspect and am a MoM player. Every year though it’s rare or it takes awhile to build one that sticks and I play the whole year. I can’t use my home team Tigers because that gets boring too fast and/or I feel like I can modify the team too much and it feels unrealistic.

I can list who I’ve tried so far and see if that helps anyone help me lol.

Braves - Love the uniforms and new stadium. Love having Acuna on the team. Ended up being an issue where they have so many prospects and quality in the farm system it was too easy for me to build them into a monster if need be. Also not a fan of Freddie Freeman but couldn’t rationalize any reason they’d trade him. Also don’t like Inciarte for the same reason and usually norther produce for me. Pitching staff is fine with tons of young arms to play with but yet still find myself looking elsewhere.

Padres - Basic looking uniforms but I like them for the most part. Solid stadium. Nice new toy in Machado. Nice young nucleus but same issue as the Braves. Monstrous farm system loaded with prospects. Hard to explain, but tempts me to trade often especially not being a big fan of SD starters.

Royals/White Sox - Both intriguing to be but couldn’t imagine beating up on the Tigers all the time in the same division.

Mariners - always had a spot for the team since the Ken Griffey jr games on the Super Nintendo back in the day. Nice looking uniforms although a bit plain IMO and nice stadium. Outside of Dee Gordon, who I’ve always been a fan of, the rest of the line up I could probably do without. Same with pitching staff and Bullpen. Kikuchi and Sheffield are intriguing but eh.

Angels - Always great to be able to have Mike Trout and I’m a fan. Of course you can’t have him unless you’re the Angels. Love how the red in their uniforms pops and is bright. Stadium is pretty nice looking at well. Prospect pool is fairly shallow which presented a good challenge of win now and have prospects for the future at the same time. I believe my issue came to too much dead weight in Justin Upton, Albert Pujols. Also do like Ohtani but don’t like being stuck with him pitching.

Yankees - Love most of the Roster. Classic uniforms and stadium. Huge fan of the amazing bullpen and line up. Just can’t seem to be able to play with them over time and lead the damn Yankees. Same problem with the loaded Red Sox.

I’m not sure about how anyone could help with suggestions but I am curious now about the Nationals. Nice young players but somewhat weak farm with the promotions of Robles/Soto. Always a Scherzer fan. Nice with Strasburg and now Corbin as well.

Brewers are interesting too but not a fan of the rotation and also think the uniforms are a bit basic as well. Really like the ballpark though. Great outfielding group obviously.

Also like the Cardinals team but still can’t like them after beating my Tigers back in 06 in the WS.

Rays could be really fun. It afraid to get bored with the Trop for half the games. Though they do seem like a fun challenge to improve the line up. The pitching staff seems all set and has great potential. Jerseys are nice too but a bit basic but I like them. Would be just a matter of the stadium and improving the bats a little bit.

I love the Indians, but l have a carryover I am doing with them, so I wanted a fresh team for 19.
I've thought of the Braves, but it's always been Indians or Braves. So those are the other teams I've been considering. Maybe 1 will catch your eye as well.

Braves are loaded, now and for the future. Which is why it may have felt too easy.

Rays are definitely under consideration. Be fun to play in that division as well.

I did try the Rockies but really don’t like those uniforms or the pitching staff.

Indians are interesting but same problem as the Sox/Royals, me being a Tiger fan and all.

DBacks definitely seem to present the toughest challenge. Don’t love the line up or the players in it post Goldy era. Pitching staff isn’t bad and wouldn’t never run out of uniform options with them.

            Re: My Usual Issue v.19

Team wise, the Twins. It's got that 'Tigers division rival' issue, but still. This is a team with a ton of guys on one year deals. Decent roster top-to-bottom, but not spectacular and in a weak division. It's interesting because you have every chance to get to the playoffs in year 1, but with no real sustainability. So, if you start hovering out of the wild card, do you make the push or cut your losses (and players)? By end of year 1, you will be making your mark on the team...either by re-signing guys, going after FAs, bringing up young guys, or a combo. Tons of storylines that you immediately have access to begin changing rather than the drudgery of doing a rebuild or powerhouse team. (The Reds are similar, but a few more guys locked-up long term)

Now, I will get to the controversial part; walk away from Full Minors rosters. Seriously, give it a shot. You will have to re-learn a huge chunk of the minors, who the guys are, what there strengths and weaknesses are, etc. It adds SO much to immersion it isn't funny and the prospects themselves are far more interesting and colorful. Another advantage, it's much harder to 'trade to win'...far fewer A/B potential guys in SDS rosters that you can unload for goodies. I used to be one that thought "I have to have real minors." but I learned I don't. If there are 1 or 2 guys you really want, import them into the SDS roster and roll with it. The sooner you can embrace the notion that the franchise is your own universe, the sooner it will hook you in.

Anyways, good luck! I know the pain you're going through
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Twins are a nice team too. Love the ballpark personally. Would also love to have Berrios and Buxton on my team. Also have really respected Nelson Cruz’s bat as well. I think I could probably rule out any AL Central team though for the same reasons mentioned.

I’d need to look more at rosters but am really curious now about the Rays and/or Nationals post Harper era. Rays would depend on whether I’d like playing in Tropicana. Also how the Nats uniforms look in game and their farm.

take all the players off of K.C. (or ChiSox) & move 'em to Detroit, then play as the Detroit Royals (or Chicago Tigers) lol

Just to have fun building a team with enough players I like but also a few intriguing prospects. Preferably younger team but also don’t mind some vets. Sort of like the Rays as an example. Very young rotation with a strong young ace and a bullpen with plenty of youth and upside ready to contend now. I’d prefer to get a couple bats of players I like with a team like the Rays but they are probably closest yet still a challenge.

Braves and Padres I thought would be the best bet but their farm system is so good it’s almost embarrassing and I catch myself trading a lot of them for win now moves and it’s too easy to make them too good.

Nice uniforms/park and uniform options are also a plus, even though that’s subjective.

The Ray's stadium is really pretty plain. Been to plenty of games there irl to know. But, the team itself looks fun, and adding a couple of pieces would just add to it. Bonus, with the division you'd be in, it won't be just a walk in the park. Each game will present good challenges.

There is this charm to playing in the Trop. Kinda like an old hockey arena charm for lack of a better term.

Just a good ol fashioned dump!! It really keeps reminding you just how much of a beer budget the Rays are on. Add some SOTS to that park....and you will have a lot of fun with that talented but cash strapped team.

As long as the Trop stays ''one-of-a-kind'' unique, it makes for an interesting change of pace from the other stadiums. That is, if you are playing there as a visiting team. If I were playing as a Tampa, I'd split my home games between the Trop & one of the minor league parks. There's just no way in hell I'd play 81 games in a warehouse. In fact, its worse than playing in a warehouse. Its more akin to playing in a parking garage

Jays are a fun one. Some fun players, lots of neat prospects, and you could probably be reasonably competitive if you want. But, if you decide to trade Stroman and/or Sanchez, the pitching evaporates.

A rotation consisting of any combination of Borucki, Bucholz, Sean Reid-Foley, Clayton Richard, Thomas Panone and Sam Gaviglo will give you fits on a daily basis.
