The funny thing is that they actually don’t use SaskTel for internet for the same reason Kinsmen doesn’t have good internet. SaskTel doesn’t have fiber going to my neighborhood so I use Shaw.

You are right though SaskTel is pretty awesome and I use them for cell phone service, if they do ever get fiber to my neighborhood I would switch in a second.

There is competition other than Bell and Rogers in Canada? I mean, I knew about Shaw and Telus, but I thought they existed at the leisure of Bell and Rogers, something they could point to and say "see? We're not colluding."

I've got fiber directly into my condo, but I have to pay for a high end executive's Lamborghini in order to use it, and I'm effed if I try to go to a competitor because whoops Bell signed an exclusivity deal with my building (because that is legal somehow) and it is literally impossible for me to do so.

As for slowdowns for Canadians, I doubt it has anything to do with the speed of our internet. Much more likely it has to do with our connection to the Show servers. Combine that with the fact that Canadian ISPs are some of the worst in the world at routing (and won't allow you to set your own DNS addresses despite the fact that there are many great ones in Canada that are free to use because eff you we control the data) and you get slowdowns and packet loss during gameplay. Don't know why it effects offline play (may be the upload of your meta data to the server, things like swing percentages and the like) but it does.

I would describe PEI as being the Hawaii of Canada (If Hawaii were cold, windy, dark, snowy, and a haven for red-headed orphans who love the taste of raspberry cordial).

It's actually quite nice for a few months in the summer though.

On topic though: I've now played 10 games or so since I disconnected and it seems to be running smoother than ever.
