Double switch

I’m an indians fan IRL but I’m using the Braves in franchise mode this year, obviously an NL team. I honestly don’t really understand the double switch though. Sometimes it comes up as an option and sometimes I don’t see the option to use double switch at all? When’s the best time to use it?

I use the double switch if I have to change pitchers, but I want the pitcher to stay out but not bat.

Example: pitcher batting 9th. He's struggling, but will be batting 7,8,9 in the next inning. If i bring in another pitcher, I will double switch him to the #6 spot let's say. So he isn't at bat in the next inning, but I can still pitch him in the next inning.

I mostly use it late in games to sub in defensive replacements in very late innings if I'm up by only one or two.

Okay I see what you mean. Thank you. Why does the double switch option only appear sometimes? If I’m warming somebody up sometimes I don’t even see the option to double switch. Is there just certain scenarios of when it’s available?

Also, I’ve noticed after last yr or two seasons ago, when you put a pinch hitter to hit for the pitcher, we used to have the option of leaving the player in the game to replace another player if we wanted, example let’s say I have Dom Smith pinch hit for the pitcher, I should’ve been able to add him in for defense to replace Pete Alonso late in games or another player, same w pinch hitting for another player, instead the player has to pitch to one batter, instead of putting the reliever. Is this a bug, they’ve never noticed ?

I have not seen this happen. I've always had the option to bring in a pit her to start the next inning or double switch and leave the pinch hitter in the game.
I just did a stream showing it, if you have twitch and want to go look. I'm at work so I can't tell you atm what the time it starts at.
Silly question, but when you pinch hit for the pitcher, do you have a relief warming up?

A warning comes up and says a position player is pitching, do you want to replace (something like that) and then it gives me the option of bringing in my reliever or double switching. Then in the double switch it asks if I want to keep pinch hitter in the game.

The Best time to use it is if your pitcher is coming up to bat in the next inning and you want a reliever to go more then one inning. The best policy normally is to take out the guy who got out last if he's not a big time player for you that way the pitcher won't bat till 9th.

Double switch

Beware there is a bug with the double switch. When pitching the prompt asked if I wanted to bring in a pitcher for my pitch hitter and I accidentally said no. This left my position player on the mound and does not allow you to go to the bullpen and bring in a pitcher. So I went to quick manage and made the pitching change. I returned to the game and played it out. I went to the box score and none of the stats that occurred before that pitching change counted. It said I only had 3 at bats and pitched 1.2 innings in a 1-0 game. When in reality I won the game 7-6.
