I notice all the different umpires throughout the game just curious...is that what the REAL umpires look like?
I don't know many umpires...just wondering.
I am the way
I am the light
I am the dark inside the night.
I hear your hopes
I feel your dreams
And in the dark I hear your screams
Don't turn away, Just take my hand
I'll never leave, All I ask of you, Is Believe.
Believe

The umpires in the Show are fictional. To my knowledge they are not based off any real life umpire.
That's funny, I didn't actually know that. Makes sense to some degree. I do like how the fictional umpires carry from one year to the next and their zones are all different (some, pretty controversial).

Would be pretty hilarious (but, to the chagrin of many OS members), if they were based on real umps.
Imagine the outrage here if C.B Bucknor, Angel Hernandez, or Joe West were doing the games. Some seriously outrageous strikes zones!
I feel like many of the umps faces are based off real life people. There's one that looks to me like Joe Girardi and one like Clint Hurdle. It used to distract me for years but now I'm just used to it.
a problem for me with umpires in the Show is the amount of umps need be 2-3 times larger. also one can understand there being fake MiLB'ers what with there being no minor league players union but c'mon Sony, get a deal done with MLBUA
I’d like SDS to implement an argument feature where you could argue balls and strikes up to the point where you might get tossed. Don’t get ejected and you might get a call in your favour later.

Problem with that is they’d have to program the umpires to be perfect because you know.... they’re always right. At least they think they are.
Does anyone know the strike zones for each umpire? I know they announce it sometimes but often, I don’t feel like that ends up being the strike zone?
It would be cool if there was a document showing what each umpires zone would be.

I'm almost sure that they're completely random. I'll have games where the umpire will call a strike on a pitch on the edge and then I'll throw it slightly even more in than the pitch called a 'strike' and have it called a ball. No rhyme or reason.

got 3 good umpire quotes
first up, Leo the Lip - never question the integrity of an ump; their eyesight, yes.
the public wouldn't like the perfect umpire in every game; it would kill off baseball's greatest alibi: ''we was robbed.'' - Billy Evans
An umpire must be perfect on the first day of the season and then get better every day. - Nestor Chylak

as great as the Show is, can you imagine if there were 60 different umps & you could edit their strikezone calling tendencies, and edit each managers strategy too.

This would be amazing and is a feature that should be in the game since we already have different umps that call the games differently. That's one of the small details I love about this game is the different umps. I usually try to listen to the commentary for them to talk about how a particular ump calls a strike zone, I have found that they are usually pretty accurate. Last night playing a game for the first time I heard them mention the umpire calling the game was usually very inconsistent with his calls, and boy was he. Numerous pitch locations that were called strikes earlier in the game ended up being called balls later on, it was tough and I ended up striking out looking more than usual and walking more batters than usual.
All I know is Eric Summersgill is awful and screws me every time he’s behind the plate lol

I don't remember the umpires name but I had one the other day that wouldn't call anything my way. When I was pitching anything close to the edge of the zone he would call a ball and at bat those same pitches he would all of a sudden call a strike. The 1st base ump even made two bad calls on close plays at the base and I ended up winning both challenges. I guess I need to start making a mental note of the names of the umps when I run in to this so I know to be ready for it.
