Everyone loves the long ball. And that is pretty much what baseball has become. Most teams...

I've got so many singles, strippers hate me. it's easy to see why they say chicks dig the long ball.

the most important part of winning employing small is often overlooked: a great starting rotation and a good bullpen. I also suggest dont over do it with sac bunting, its just not wise to give away too many easy outs. I'm not saying never bunt, but it is a fine line in playing ''small ball'' and ''no ball''. obviously you should bunt less in the American League. and one last positive thing about bunting: giving away an easy out to move a runner over beats GIDP'ing lol

but yeah, pitching is where it's at in small ball

This year I am doing an Orioles franchise. I have always wanted to do a full rebuild and what better time than now with '19 that actually allows you to play small ball and build a defensive team.

Of course this is going to be a long and painful process but I am actually really excited about it. I beat the Yankees this morning. Got to Tanaka and they pulled him in the 3rd. Won the game 8-2 not a single home run in 15 hits and only 2 doubles. O's turned 3 double plays with the Yanks hitting into shifts. Great game and lots of fun.

love this article.....and love small ball. so much strategy involved. the fielding of the defense, how fast your player is, who's coming up to bat, etc. it's a shame more teams don't implement it in MLB.

i sac bunted into a triple play last night. had runners on first and second and bunted a ball in the air that I thought was going to fall. since my runners were frozen i had to initiate their advancement to the next base, but of course the pitcher came out of nowhere to catch the ball in the air and proceeded to kill that rally.

I'm playing a franchise right now with my team the Detroit Tigers. By default we have to resort to small ball due to the lack of power bats in our lineup. I'm in August of season 1 and shipped off Nick Castellanos at the deadline because of his lack of defense for the outfield. I have moved Miggy to the full time DH so there is an opening at 1st base but I drafted a stud power hitting 1st baseman in the 1st round so I didn't want to move Castellanos there and lock him up long term so I got some prospects for him.

This is going to be a long rebuild, I also snagged a steal in the 3rd round with a stud starting pitching prospect with a 95 potential to add to a farm system already deep with pitching. With our lack of any kind of positional depth though we have to resort to small ball and creative base running to sneak out whatever wins we can. I'm on pace to finish in the bottom 3 in all of the MLB. I have however been able to small ball my way to some surprising wins against teams we had no business beating.
