    Starter to Reliever

Did a quick search but didn’t come up with much. Just wondering if you guys have a rule of thumb or a formula when converting a starter to reliever or vice versa.

    My rule is:

Starter to reliever = a 40pt reduction in stamina from where it is currently

Starter to closer = a 50pt reduction in stamina from where it is currently but the final value of stamina cannot be higher than 30.

Reliever to starter = a 40pt increase in stamina from where it is currently but the final value cannot be lower than 70. I make all starters each spring training have a minimal stamina attribute rating of 70

What about long relievers? Are they just starters in the bullpen or do you change the stamina for them too?

I don't convert starters to long relievers. They either get moved to middle reliever or closer.

So you just adjust the stamina and not any other attributes to compensate?

              Re: Starter to Reliever

I do a gradual addition or subtraction. If I'm going starter to reliever, I drop the stamina by 5 after every relief appearance until they go below 40, then I stop. If I'm going reliever to starter, I add 4 to stamina after every appearance until they go above 60, then I stop. So if I plan on making a reliever into a starter, I'd add stamina each appearance while he's still in the bullpen, then change his position to ''starter' once he goes above 50. when I'm converting a starter to reliever, I dont change his position to ''reliever'' until he goes below 50. I dont touch any other attribute. It just is what it is. But all of that is rare. Most seasons I dont convert anyone

I used to bump a MPH off the pitches when going from reliever to starter and the opposite for starter to reliever but I don't do it anymore. I usually just adjust the stamina to reasonable levels.

                  Here's what I do.

                  Starter to Long Reliever

                  Drop Stamina down 20 points

                  Starter to Relief Pitcher

                  Stamina down to 28-32
All pitches get a 2 MPH increase

I move all pitching attributes up 7 points
