Auto-Generated FA Prospects

This is a phenomenon that I’ve seen occur on a few rosters in the Show 18, especially OSFM 1.5 during the initial release.

These would be just randomly generated fake prospects put into the FA pool. and actually one of my favorite surprises.

I’m curious what triggers them to be generated as I have only seen 2 or 3 rosters, including OSFM 1.5, that have these random gen players.

Does anyone know what triggers the FA pool to generate random fake prospects?

I dont know about 18 but in 19 the fakes cover up the legends if you have legends OFF

No, this happens at the start of a new franchise. Probably should have mentioned that

Weird. I know that 1.5 has a bunch of the signed international FA's like Puasson, Dominguez and Lora, but haven't seen this. Must be a few roster holes being filled in?

I started my franchise in 18 and when I started up there was a 99 potential 20 year old SS in the free agents list. That's just incredible. There were some other decent fake prospects too. I also noticed that new FAs got generated when I headed into my first free agency. It wasn't just unsigned draft picks, as I kept meticulous track of them. Some of them were young enough to be considered prospects, but some were older. Like mid to late 20s. With no previous experience. Some of them are quite good. It's a weird thing. I have no idea why. If I had to take a guess, the game is probably designed to maintain at least X number of players at all times. And when a bunch of guys retire at the end of the season, if there aren't enough players from the draft to keep up the number, the game generates some players and puts them in the free agent pool?

That’s what I was thinking but I’m still not sure how it plays into rosters. I know that means I would have to take OSFM 1.5 and update it completely which would take forever but it might be worth it, I dunno.

So I loaded up my roster and checked something and found out something interesting.

In player Movement you have not one, but 4 Free Agent pools. The actual free agent pool followed by the Expansion Era Boomers, Long Ball Beasts, and the Mid Century Groundbreakers.

I remember the free-agent pool in game would have these players from those pools that aren’t Legends in the actual franchise Free Agency pool.

In OSFM 1.5 the Long Ball Beasts pool is filled with Legends.

I need to figure out how to import legends into the free agent pool.

I didn’t even see it lol.

That being said tho, I’m not sure how to get Legends back into the pool to spur the Auto-Gen guys.
