    Switch hitters you rake with.

In my Jays franchise I’m really hitting well with switch hitters Justin Smoak and Freddy Galvis. I’ve taken Ian Happ for a test drive (just might try and trade for him).

What switch hitters do you all have success with?

Might only be psychological but I feel real comfortable batting against lefties or righties. I should load up my team with switch hitters

Carlos Santana & Ozzie Albies. Left-handed pitching kills me except when playing with Santana. and Ozzie is just a personal favorite. I think I have a mental block when it comes to lefties, whether batting against them, or throwing with one of them on my staff.

I mash with Smoaky, but am struggling with Galvis.

It's weird, but I find it harder to hit a lefty with a lefty, and much easier to hit a right with a righty. Might just be sample size.

I've been killing it with Yasmani Grandal. Signed him in my first offseason. He plays well above his mid 50s contact attributes for me while living up to his 80s power.

Same here but I’m better batting left vs righty than batting right vs lefty.

But hey, baseball is 90% mental and the other half is directional hitting :-)

This year I’ve been having awesome success with left handed hitters. Smoak and Galvis from the left and Tellez all hitting for average and power. And McKinney as well minus any power.

I feel that hitting with switch hitters is just a huge advantage in the game. Without looking at my stats I know for a fact I hit better from the left side but having batters who hit from both sides of the plate feels so comfortable.

I love hitting with Marwin Gonzalez. Plus he can play all over the field. Love having him in franchise and doesn't cost much for really solid everyday production.

He's not as valuable as he used to be, but I always had a good time hitting with Robbie Grossman.

Some others: Dexter Fowler, Melky Cabrera and super random Tomas Telis.

I had Telis as my backup catcher in 17 and 18 and he was always an above average hitter for me.

This is basically true in real-life. If you look at righty power numbers, they usually have more or less the same power vs right handed pitchers, some even have MORE power vs righties.

However, lefty hitters tend to see a steeper drop off in both contact and power vs lefties. This is why lefty specialists exist in baseball.

In real life it's just because there are fewer lefties than righties...In MLB The Show that is translated by having the ratings be lower for lefty vs lefty matchups on the hitter side.

I've given this some thought in the past and feel like there needs to be a "hidden" power number for same-handed matchups.

For example if Cody Bellinger has 99 Power vs righties (just making this up) and 75 Power vs Lefties, he should have a hidden Power number of "99" vs Lefties that should trigger if a lefty hangs one or throws a fastball right down the middle. His 75 power vs lefties should only hold true when everything is even (i.e. pitcher is locating, not hanging pitches, pitching to the corners, etc...); but when a lefty makes a bad pitch he should still be able to get his "A+ Swing" off, which is the 99 power he has vs righties.

I feel like this is the piece that is missing in MLB The Show to make left vs lefty hitting more realistic. There are times where lefties get a pitch from lefty and put their "righty swing" on it....that is currently not translated to the game.

Maybe they can literally tie this to the "Square" Power Button and it could be some sort of risk/reward system.
If you swing with a "Square" your power will increase to whatever that player's max power is (in this case 99) but you will lower you contact by that same percentage. In this case the power increase will be 15 points, but the contact will lower by 15...or something like that.

I'd be content with a simple pitching rating "Vs. Righties/Vs. Lefties". 2K was horrible, but had it.

I agree this has to exist too, but then it still does not explain why Cody Bellinger (if we use my non-data driven example above) can hit a ball 500 ft against righties, but not against lefties. He is not any less powerful vs lefties, he just hits less versus them overall.

Yes, he technically hits less HRs vs lefties, but he still has the potential to impact the ball, regardless of pitcher handedness, the same way.

So there has to be a way for the hitter to "unleash" his full power potential in leverage situations.

I really wish they did more about each player's vision and adjusted the camera angle based on how they fare against certain pitchers, or pitcher types.

This video I made is just one example of what they can do (with Gordon, Yelich, and Bour each facing Bumgarner):

But also you could mess with players' timing as well. I figure the more distance they create between batter and pitcher (with regard to the field of view), the easier it is to time a pitch coming your way. So they could tweak that as well, per batter.

I totally agree with the above Blzer.

This is also why I use Offset 2 as my camera angle...to me it provides a more realistic-feel to the pitching/batter match-up....

It'd be a real cool feature if the camera angle shifted a little bit in regards to each match-up/based on statistics...but that'd be A LOT for them to handle I think.
