    Base running question

Right now I have base running set to auto while I learn the game. Question though. I noticed I can extend lead of runners but when I want them to steal they do not, or they take off delayed at which they get picked off. What am I missing?
Also pitching warm ups. What is the purpose of this? When pitcher is warming up can you tell what command he has with certain pitches when they do not get close to the targeted area?

    Re: Base running question

Sorry I cannot help with the first part of your post as I don't use AUTO baserunning so I'm not familiar with how it works.

As for pitcher warm ups, I use this for two reasons:

    1) As a meter pitching mechanic user, it helps me by letting me get used to their windup and how it portrays on the meter. Guys with quick motions speed up the meter, slower motions slow it down. So I get a feel for hitting the accuracy setting with the pitcher's windup.

    2) To see what pitches are working. Granted 8 pitches isn't really enough sample size to get a true evaluation, but if I throw a pitch in warm ups and it doesn't react the way I expect then I'm cautious about throwing it to a live hitter.

I really wish they would bring back pitcher warm ups for starting pitchers for the reasons listed above.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

      Re: Base running question

In the game if you scroll over all the way to the right there is a box labled controls & extra, if you click on controls and scroll over a few times it will show you the appropriate buttons for leading off and stealing.

If you use classic baserunning ( auto or not )

      to leadoff

      from 1st - (hold) circle + L1/R1 leadoff/return
      from 2nd - (hold triangle + L1/R1 leadoff/return
      from 3rd (hold) square + L1/R1 leadoff/return

      to steal

      2nd (hold) circle + tap L2
      3rd (hold) triangle + tap L2
home (hold) square + tap L2

      For manual steals

      (hold) L2 prior to delivery
