How did Pete Alonso NOT get to diamond!?

.260 BA, 53 HR, 30 doubles, 110 RBI, 72 BB... I'm a Yankee fan, and I HATE the Mets. But the final number adjustments for the season should have had him at an 85 at least.

The kid was all world this year. I got to watch him play a lot (I live in NJ, so when the Yankees are off, or start west coast time I'd watch the Mets) this season. And it seemed like he made a big progression but he definitely should have been made a diamond player.

It took forever to get DJ LeMahieu to an 85, and he had a monster year. (Should be second in MVP voting behind Bregman).

But Alonso definitely deserved to have his card/player hit diamond status given the enormity of his rookie campaign.

I know everyone can't be a diamond player... And there were quite a few... But after Diaz imploded dropping to low gold, and Syndergaard dropping out of the diamond level, there was certainly room for him to be put on there. They made Arizona's Marte diamond, and not Alonso. Bad job by SDS...

It's perfectly fine to have that discussion here.

Ratings for DD cards are different than the in-game roster that is used for franchise and play now games. In many cases, the live roster ratings are higher than the DD version of the same player. So, pointing to the DD forum MAY be applicable.

That said, does this topic really need its own thread?
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

I haven't played franchise, but thought the ratings were the same (increasing/decreasing). So that's my bad

As far as needing its own thread... It's a forum... There's a bunch of stuff that may or may not interest ppl. But given Alonsos year, I was really surprised that he didn't get that jump. 53 HR, 30 doubles as a rookie is insane. Never happened before.im not even a Mets fan (I'm a Yankee fan) but felt he deserved to be bumped. So I made the topic to discuss it with anyone else who had a take on it.

I'm sure there's plenty of threads that are really not needed... But it's a place for discussion on topics of interest to me, you, and everyone else.

It's because my dog is a better defender than Pete.

I like how you only quoted raw numbers for Alonso. And DJ LeMahieu isn't worthy of #2 in mvp.

He was at least average at 1B. You obviously didn't watch much.

yeah, I have DJ at 7 in MVP

in Pete's defence, it really depends on your preference of would you rather play the game in his style, or someone like Keith Hernandez? neither are HoF'ers, so is there really a wrong choice? since Keith's potential is over and Pete's just beginning, maybe Pete is the right choice  I even have Keith's '79 MVP season as not as valuable as Dave Winfield OR Mike Schmidt in '79. but that's neither here nor there (well, maybe there).

as far as the OP question, I have Pete as the 23rd best player in all of baseball, so there is room for improvement. the long ball can carry you a long way, but it wont necessarily carry you ALL the way.
