Game drops players at start or end of season

Hey all. Happy playoffs. One of my favorite times of the year.
    *
I've got a serious problem. When I replace my players on my team with Legends the game drops them at the end of the first season or when the season starts.*
I start a new chise. Get rid of all players and replace with my favorite legends. I'll set lineups and rotation and so on. All management duties are manual. Once the season starts and when the first season is done, the game drops a lot of the players. Optional waivers or something. Unconditional or something. I don't want to lose anyone.
How can I do this without losing anyone unless I choose to myself?
    Thank you for help.

Re: Game drops players at start or end of season

So I created my team. Gave everyone 10 year contracts. End of spring training the CPU decided to optional waiver many players. If they were not picked up by another team then they go to AAA.

I think this is broken. If players have a contract then there's no waiver right?

    Would someone please help?

      Its not broken.

If a player is out of options, when Spring Training is over if you decide to move them from the majors to the minors they have to pass through optional waivers just like they would in the regular season.

Being on contract has nothing to do with it.

Except I don't move anyone anywhere.
        How do I edit options?
Why then doesn't the game just remove all the team since no one has options?

You can only keep 25 men on the active roster. If you don’t do it yourself when you end Spring Training the computer will do it for you.

I don’t know about editing options

Because you have to fill a 25 man roster

Well ya. 25 players per team and 15 or so in A ball.
Then there's the 40 man roster.

All levels in my organization are full and no extras. So there's nothing to remove from any roster. I'm confused when you say 25 man active roster and extras will be removed? The 25 active is MLB right? But after that everyone is where they should be.

            I'm lost here.

You said the game is putting guys on optional waivers after spring training correct?

Well in spring training you’re entire 40 man roster is on your major league team. When Spring Training ends, you must move 15 guys back to the minors and if those players are out of options then they must clear optional assignment waivers

Re: Game drops players at start or end of season

Yep. Makes sense. But they're already on the minor teams. So how is that possible to put them on a minor team when they already are?

So when creating the team I remove all players from all levels. Then I'll add free agents to each level. I'll give them a contract.

So being they are where they're supposed to be, how come I have to move 15 players at end of spring training? Aren't they already on the minor league team where I put them?

When I look at each team in my organization they're full. So it doesn't make sense. They're already in their respective team so how can I put them their again? And what happens to the 40 man roster?

So you're playing Spring Training with 25 players???

When you go into Spring Training the game automatically adds all 40 players on your 40 man roster to the major league club to participate in Spring Training.

Only vaguely on topic here, but in my opinion one of the major needs in franchise mode is a defined opportunity to cut to your 25 man roster (having non-roster invitees you can use in spring training and swap with guys on the 40 man would be great too) when transitioning from spring training to the regular season. You can obviously do this through the roster management screen, but if you overlook it the game automatically makes a bunch of decisions for you.

I like how in Madden they have a designated screen for major roster decisions. I think that would be useful in The Show, especially considering how technical baseball transactions can be.

Re: Game drops players at start or end of season

At the start of Spring training and also at the end of the minor league season, any player on your 40 man, whether it is 40 or 32 or any number between 25-40, gets added to the MLB roster. At the end of spring training and beginning of the playoffs, you have to move back to 25 man MLB roster and put those remaining players above your 25 total back in your minor system.

MLB players can only be sent down 3 total times (waiver periods) before their options are out. At that point, sending them down they will have to go through waivers for the other 29 teams to get a chance to claim the player. This creates a situation where you can't store MLB players in your farm system when another team will play them at the MLB level. This is also why the rule 5 draft rules exist.

You can not edit options in game. My recommendation is to take the players off of the 40 man roster in the main menu, save the roster, then load it up. Outside of franchise. If they do not qualify for the rule 5, which they shouldn't because they are legends, then they will be in your minor system and not required to clear waivers.

I would recommend reading the transaction handbook in the game for more information. Specifically waivers, rule 5 draft, service time, etc. Honestly I would review them all. They are very helpful if you do not understand these rules. They are complicated if you don't have experience with them.

There are ways to manipulate these rules to your advantage in game that you can't do in real life, but that's not how I play so I won't get into that.

I just wanted to add that you can send a player with at least 1 option up and down as many times as you like during the season and it'll only use 1 option.

In spring training I have the 40 man roster. In the minor league screens the players are there and some on 40 man roster and some not. When spring training is over why do I have to place players in the minors when they are already there?

It's not off topic in my opinion talking about the game could have new screens to help with this at end of spring training. That relates.

I will look at the handbook. Thank you for the suggestions. This is all very confusing to me.

When I get a free agent there's the option for options. None, player, club and both. Is this what would prevent a player from going on optional waivers? What are these options?

Those options such as player and team refer to contracts. The options we are referring to are waiver options. Again this can get confusing and that's ok. It's hard to explain via text. Until you become more familiar with the service rules, the handbook is your best friend.
