Re: Vote For MLB The Show Game of the Decade

this was a tough call for me. I thoroughly enjoyed 19 but I voted 16. the player dead hollow ''zombie''eyes in 16 (& from previous years) were finally fixed in 17, my personal biggest issue with 16.

now, having said that, I'm currently replaying a season in Show 14, and honestly, I could have spent the last 7 years playing 14 if money had been any issue. here's to hoping I enjoy Show 20-29 as much as I did Show 10-19. great job San Diego Studios!

As opposed to some other sports games there are many really good years to choose from here. Some early, some late.I have really enjoyed 18 and 19 though but this one takes some thought.

17 - took the biggest leap in gameplay realism.

17 is still my favorite, gameplay was the most balanced IMO. Last 2 years feel “off” to me as far as gameplay . If it wasn’t for graphics I would still just play 17 but graphics made such a big leap in 18 that I have a hard time going back now So I find myself just trying different things trying to make 19 work but mainly just getting frustrated. I will admit that the show is the best sports game out there for me but that unfortunately doesn’t make it good. If SDS could do a few things for me in 20 please make pitching harder overall, never get realistic walks and when I miss down the middle the cpu just hits deep foul balls and weak pop ups too often. And on offense please fix the cpu pitchers giving up way too many walks . These adjustments would really improve the gameplay experience.

            Was a tough choice.

I was close to picking 12 just because I feel like that was the last time Franchise for any real attention.

14 was tempting because of the addition of year to year saves.

In the end I went with 16. It still basically ignored franchise (and the series continues to do so), but it was the start of a long string of great on the field improvements. Plus, I finally got to close the roof.

Re: Vote For MLB The Show Game of the Decade

This was a tough choice for me, especially between '14 and '19, but in the end I chose '14.

The introduction of the Year to Year saves is still the single greatest addition to franchise in any sports game. The fact that I can continue a franchise that I become heavily invested in year after year is a feature that will be tough to top for me personally.

I think '19 is the best playing game and for me, gameplay is, and always will be king. No matter what features may be included, if the game isn't enjoyable on the field then nothing else matters.

But I have found the gameplay to be enjoyable each and every year, except for '17 which I eventually set out and played '16, so I thought what addition outside of gameplay trumps the other releases, and for me that was year to year saves.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

yeah, getting the sliders dialed in just right is always tough but rewarding if you're lucky enough to get it where it feels right. what I do is start it out as most difficult as I can make it and work backwards from there, playing absolutely as many play now games as it takes. And when I'm working on getting pitching sliders perfect, I dont hit in those games, I fast-forward. Same for when I'm working on hitting sliders. I started off the pitching sliders at 10 for CPU Contact Power Timing & Solid Hits. For Human Control and Consistency I started those at zero. Yeah it was brutal early but the first months slider work can pay huge dividends the rest of the year, IF baseball is you're number 1 game. But for casual fans only playing for 2,3,4 months that might just be a month lost and not entirely worth it.

                  .

Yes baseball is my #1 so I play all year. As far as sliders Yes that is my issue because no matter what I have done with the last 2 years games literally I will move 1 slider 1 click and I will go from pitching domination to giving up 12 hits in 3 innings so then I will move that slider back and move another and then I will dominate etc . I have done the dynamic difficulty thing and to me it feels like nothing changes in between difficulties that I noticed . I use analog pitching and I literally maxed out the dynamic difficulty due to when I hit the corners they mainly just hit pop ups and slow rollers and when I miss in the middle the cpu either fouls the pitch off or looks at it go by . But while dominating like that I cannot hardly strike anyone out. If I change anything to get cpu to swing and miss more than they don’t hit at all. That being said I also tried both classic and meter pitching and yes it’s better but kinda similar results (at lower difficulty than analog). My only complaint with hitting is that I walk WAY too much / adjust cpu to be better than I don’t hit . Bad case of slideritis ya but results are real, keep playing 30-50 games seasons and end up trying something different because it still doesn’t feel right.

MLB 11 holds a special place because it was the first time I played my favorite roster of all time. The 1987 Full minors from Jethrotull and JMyers.

Also it was the last time we had no shortened walk ups, batter fidgets after every pitch, full foul ball camera etc. and also the last time we had real time broadcast.

In the end though MLB 19 is king. The very best gameplay and audio/SOTS and crowd presentation to date.

Re: Vote For MLB The Show Game of the Decade

I voted for '16 as well.

'16 for me felt like this last game of a generation. No it wasn't perfect. But it was the last game that didn't push hard on DD. RTTS was still intact, in that you could actually go in the first round and really be the best player in Baseball. There were no mini games involved or and all of the "extra" stuff was more in the background.

The financial system was the last year before they went to the new one as well I believe. I don't remember '17, my least favorite of them all. The gameplay was solid, franchise mode was good. To me it really kind of felt like the perfect game. I just recently loaded it back up and boy it does hold up really well.

I do agree that '19 is the best its ever been. The character models are brilliant, every player truly looks different. Game play is, for me, the best its ever been. No I am not a fan of the direction they seem to be heading. I have barely touched RTTS this year, I really hate all of that mini game garbage. How does tapping your smart phone make you a better hitter? Yes I know it is all skippable but your get punished with less points and it is just annoying to me. I am also still not a fan of the new financial system, but I am coming to grips with it.

But I digress, sorry. '19 is the best game of Baseball I have every played. This is the one I think I will stick with for a few years. But '16 is my favorite game of this span of the vote.

Although '13 is my honorable mention and holds a personal space in my heart. I still can't thank the folks and SDS enough for that one.

I put the game in today after a two month layoff and it really is a gift. I play on the Pro, Samsung QLED and it looks 4K. Gameplay is just a great feel, all the options they give us, amazing. Looking forward to March. Back in the saddle.

16 is a great game. Heck 15 and 18 are also excellent.

                          17 is a polarizing title.

One thing about The Show that always shines is the consistency and pretty much I have always been impressed with the incremental but meaningful upgrades to gameplay.

It is a tough vote indeed.
