Player development. Do players progress more when playing in triple A than double A? When is the right time to call up guys between the levels ,aa,aaa and mlb. Any suggestions or tricks would be helpful. Thank you very much.

Re: Player development
the way i tend to do it(and it may not be the correct way) but at the end of the month when you get reports about certain players performing. if they did well i tend to call them up to triple A from double A, but i usually dont call someone up to the majors unless i feel his abilities are ready for the majors, and vis versa. if someone has a really rough month in Triple A i may feel like he may need to be demoted to work on his craft in double A a bit more. Also when it comes to September call ups if i feel the player is a fringe player i would call him up to see how he does for that month.Toronto Blue Jays

Re: Player development
I tend to use AAA as my career minor league place unless I am overloaded with prospects at a position.
It is based on performance. I want my future MLB players to play at AA that was as they get better overall even into the 70+ overall range. They will dominate at AA ball and progress more because of better stats.
At A level, players will tend to progress +1 in each attribute every 2 months.Funkycorm

Re: Player development
So I've had a carry over rolling since 2014. In my experience, the higher the level they play at, the faster they can potentially grow, however there is also risk more risk of stalling or even regressing as well.
Single A had no risk and a very small potential return.
MLB had the most risk, but you can get insanely good growth of the prospect does well.
My current SS was awful as a prospect, despite being 71 overall when I got him, couldn't hit a thing, so I shoved them into single A for that small but guaranteed growth. They went straight from single A to the Majors.
They are now the best SS in the game.
Meanwhile my current Ace started in AA at 43 overall. He dominated AA for a year, progressing from a 43 to a 53 in a year. Next year he started AAA and continued to dominate, going from a 53 to a 74. His third year in AAA saw him progress from a 74 to a 90.
He's now my Ace and rated 99 overall.

Also, not saying you're lying, but my understanding is once a player is in the 70s, it's very difficult for them to continue to develop at the AAA level... You may be mistaken... it's pretty impossible for a player to jump 16 points at AAA to a 90 overall... let alone 21 points to a 74 in the first place.Comment

Uh... this dude for real jumped 21 points at AAA in one year? I call shenanigans.

Re: Player development
I'm not the Nationals but I'm pretty sure in 2 years Wilmer Difo for Nationals went from 76 to 92 in my franchiseIt's very rare, and it was definitely an exceptional case. He was really dominating AAA. We're talking sub 1 ERA at season's end.

If a player has A or B potential, or they're on the edge of my arbitrary guidelines, I may opt down, to let em progress quicker by murdering lesser talent. If there are players older than my guidelines, I'll typically bump them up a tier to sit on the bench and let youth get get more playing time. I will only start a draftee in AAA if he's above 70 OVR.
The blueprint I follow for franchise has changed ALOT this last year, but these guidelines have done me well no matter what team I'm rebuilding.
Here's the vid that helped shape my guidelines.
Edit: I typically leave players where they are all year. If I do move players it'll be 1st of july and/or august. If I promote from AA to AAA, said player MUST surpass the guy above him on the depth chart. Pitchers must pass 2 or 3 above him. If I demote a player due to bad stats, I'll typically promote a benchwarmer, and whoever the current bench guy is moves to the lineup.Last edited by garry1221; 01-12-2020, 07:41 AM.Comment
