Did pace of play improve from 18 to 19?

I started playing 18 again after not playing any Show last year. I turned the settings to fast play, but games still drag on a bit long for me. I noticed the the CPU will wait 5 seconds between pitches if there are any runners on base. Some pitchers deliveries also take a really long time. Did 19 speed things up at all? I'd like to be able complete 9 inning games in under 45 minutes.

Unless you want to use "Quick Counts", the answer is likely no, the pace of play in MLB 19 did not change much from MLB 18. Your only hope to finish fast is to button mash as much as you can between plays. But completing "Fast Play" games without "Quick Counts" usually takes at least one hour to complete while the full "Broadcast" presentation games usually last about two hours. Of course it all depends on how many base runners and how many runs are scored in a given game.

There's an option for speeding up the time it takes the CPU pitcher between pitches - in gameplay settings on the Pitching tab, change pitch delay to Faster. It'll cut the time before a CPU pitcher selects a pitch down to about 2 seconds. You can save this setting on your profile so you don't have to change it every game, but make sure you're changing it for the profile you actually use in-game (most of the time it will be the one listed as Default).

Nothing short of editing the windups will change how fast a pitcher goes through his actual windup, though.

Other than that, Fast Play presentation is the main way of getting through full games quickly.

I don't recall seeing this in 18. I remember is from a previous version. That would do wonders, and the time between pitches is way too long for me. I'll look for it again.

Baseball is not designed for the short attention span crowd.

Every presentation setting is "Fast", technically. Real games take 3 or 4 hours. I'm not sure what people want in terms of making it faster. Just play the mode they made for the kids where you only play crucial "moments"

People want to be able to have a hands on approach to their franchises, but also have lives outside of playing video games. So being able to play a game in 45 minutes means that in a 2 hour window where they have free time to play games, they can get 2 games played instead of one.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: Did pace of play improve from 18 to 19?

There are a few things someone can try to attempt to speed up their games. They could do a "Player Lock" game where they choose to play with only one player and fast forward through all plays that do not affect the targeted player. My experience with this sort of game tells me on average most games take about 10-15 minutes to play and it could be reduced further if you eliminate base running. But if someone wants to play all 27 outs for both sides in a game, the only way to get through the games as fast as possible will be to button mash and/or use Quick Counts. And even then you are lucky to get the game completed in 30-45 minutes. Lot's of offense and/or extra innings can result in longish games.

I can only speak for myself, but I don't like rushing through innings when I pitch since pitching can be stressful. Then when I hit, if I go up to the plate trying to make the appearance as fast as it possibly can be, well usually bad things happen.

not if Manfred has his way lol. MLB wants 14-10 scores but then want it done in under 120 minutes. not happening. if they eat the cake, they cant then have it also. it really makes sense, they cant do the math because they dont have the attention span. sometimes I drag my game out for 3 hours because I wont throw a pitch until the booth stops yakking. the only reason I dont do it more is because a lot of the time I have the booth cut off.

This is why being able to save mid game is so important to me. If I only have a half hour of free time I can play 2-3 innings of a game and then save.

                    Love this feature.

IDK why some people feel the need to get snarky or condescending about this. Not everyone wants to spend over an hour playing 9 innings of video game baseball.

Thanks to those who have been helpful. I found the setting to speed up the time between pitches. Still wish it was a little faster, but I'll take what I can get

In an ironic(?) twist, my first game with the faster setting ended up being a 2-1 victory that lasted.......18 innings.

Agreed. I have never understood why some folks get so defensive when someone else has different video game preferences.

While I believe people should play the game however they want, this DID make me LOL.

To me there is no better experience than playing the entire game, every pitch. The atmosphere is great.

But no doubt some times you just have to speed it up and thank God we have options. Playing 162 games and trying to build a contender from scratch, you definitely need speed up options.

Options to speed the in game experience up, no problem. But options to shorten the season from 162 games? No way. Me, I'd rather give a full 100% playthrough of 62 games, than a half assed or simmed through experience of 162.
