Re: MLB The Show 20 Trailer - Gameplay Engine & AI Updates
So did they just confirm perfect perfect does result in automatic hits...?
It was stated that getting perfect perfect would mean you are rewarded.Comment

I don't understand why this automatic hits narrative keeps being brought up.
I have no 'insider' information, but if I'm wrong about this, I will say that I was wrong after the stream on Thursday. I just know that automatic hits would make absolutely no sense in a sim game of a sport in which an all-star hitter fails roughly 70% of the time.
This is baseball boys. Sometimes you hit that screaming line drive directly at the center fielder.Last edited by dbekoscke; 02-04-2020, 02:38 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Trailer - Gameplay Engine & AI Updates
How else would one take what Ramone said when talking about the feature? Get perfect timing and placement and you are rewarded and then proceed to show nothing but base hits for the feature.
Edit::
Since you edited yours, just want to add some of you act like we know nothing about baseball with the “this is baseball boys, sometimes a line drive...” stuff. Lol. This is also a video game that they can code to grant automatic hits. I TRULY hope you are right, but I don’t believe you are. We may not want automatic hits, but casuals sure believe in stick skill success.Last edited by TheBleedingRed21; 02-04-2020, 02:44 PM.Comment

Either you watched a different video or had the volume off. It very much sounded as so. I surely hope that’s not the case, or if it is, directional hitting does not include perfect perfect.

Ball physics will still play a role. Or what about when you're facing a 99 rated pitcher with 120ish H and HR. Those ratings from the pitcher should still have SOME effect even if you hit perfect-perfect.
I'm really not trying to start anything here, truly. At the end of the day, we all care about this video game and I think our passion is very evident on this forum!
Thank you to everyone posting here for your enthusiasm and excitement for the Twitch streams and, of course, the release of MLBTS20! I know that I'm super excited!!! (Can't say the same for my wife, as she says I play too much)Comment

SDS has not said that getting perfect-perfect tier would result in automatic hits in any way.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Trailer - Gameplay Engine & AI Updates
Automatic hits make no sense. Because even hitting on perfect-perfect, the ball could still be smashed into a fielders glove. The only way I could see perfect-perfect ended up in 100% auto hits is if these hits are home runs 100% of the time.

You're the third person I've seen mention ball physics. Ball physics are coded into the game. They are not real physics. It's code. Anything can be coded into the game. Physics cannot. It is quasi-physics, aka the best representation of physics they can get via code.

Nope. Not buying the hype again. I'll watch players streams a month after release and decide from there. Stayed away from 18, got suckered back with 19 and regretted it almost immediately.Comment
