It is 6 full years of MLB service time. You can find your player’s service time on the player card on the RTTS menu, I believe it is located around where it shows height and weight.
Service time does not include time spent in the minors. Also, if your first call up is in the middle of the year, then you effectively would need 7 seasons to accrue 6 years of total MLB service. -

I have another question that I guess can fit in this thread.
Can I only sign a contract for a max yearly salary of 31M? This is as high as it will let me go but Gleyber Torres has a 7 year deal starting at 31 and increasing to 45M in his final season.
Is there any way to get more than 31 or is that the absolute max for user?Comment

31 mil is the max. However, all the contracts (beyond 3 or 4 years maybe) are backloaded. So if you sign a 7 year deal for 31 mil per year, year 1 of that deal versus year 7 will be significantly less.Comment
