it would certainly help if base-running aggression and base-stealing aggression were separate attributes. Sony?

Re: I have had it with this poor base running!!!
This is actually a really good find! I always assumed BR aggressiveness only effected steal attempts in the sim engine. But finding out that it impacts CPU baserunning behaviour in the game engine, and that it generally isn't high enough is very useful information.
Thank you!
The game plays different seeing animations slightly better...getting runners thrown out at second and challenging outfielders..just a big difference. As far as effecting steals in the sim engine I’m unsure about that..you may be right as I have not done testing. But for now I’m hoping the “Game is back”Last edited by tuckermaine; 02-22-2020, 12:29 PM.Comment

Re: I have had it with this poor base running!!!
But take a guy with a 50 speed rating.. he has some pop and gets a fair amount of doubles...I raise it to 65 to 68 ..as they now occasionally dig for second on that sure single down line or in gap....
Example.. one of my favorite players was Carl Yasrezemski ..”Yaz” rarely stole bases but..he was a very good baserunner and would go first to third and stretch singles...
I wish The Devs would incorporate this soon...maybe the BR Agg attribute is a hidden trait..but as Warmwind stated it is thought this trait is tied to base stealing.
And it may be..but all I know is that it does create a realistic aggressive baserunning that is missing in 19..
You can use your own judgement...but I will say it does work.
Sorry for the long answer ....Last edited by tuckermaine; 02-22-2020, 02:49 PM.Comment

Thanks for the reply. I'll mess around with it and see what happens.Comment

Re: I have had it with this poor base running!!!
Thought I better chime in and offer a word of caution on the BR AGG attribute. I’ve played autobaserunning with Bacons Roster all year and believe the Br AGG attribute covers BOTH steal attempts and movement on the basepaths.
You have to be careful what you wish for! For example my switch hitting no 2 short stop is rated Speed 69 Stealing 56 BR AGG 78. He is electric on the basepaths not noticing stop signals and a asset when driving in runs. However when he is on first and I hear “runner runner” I know there is a more than fair chance he is not going to make it to 2nd and another wasted hit is very frustrating!
The takeaway for me has been that the whole Speed/Stealing/BRAgg attribute mix is a very fine balancing act and should be adjusted in unison. It might even be worthwhile for you guys to pop into Bacons Roster thread and get his thoughts on the subject. He seems to have mastered the art of creating a very broad range of baserunning abilities in the league.Comment

Re: I have had it with this poor base running!!!
you know what I have never seen? anyone tagging from 1st to 2nd base after a FO I have NEVER seen it happen, it's because the CPU never runs back to 1st base for a opportunity to.Comment

Re: I have had it with this poor base running!!!
My issue is usually more to do with the CPU going back to second to tag too often on balls I'm not that close to catching. Many times they only move up to third base on a double because of this.
I've seen several times where CPU has man on 1st and 2nd, less than 2 out. Next batter hits what looks like it could be a 2 run double. I get the ball back in thinking possible play at the plate for the 2nd run only to see no runs have scored and the bases are loaded.
I haven't tried it yet, but hopefully increasing baserunning aggressiveness cures this issue. I'm not usually a fan of having to change something for every player like that. It could be game changing though for the better so we'll see.Comment

Re: I have had it with this poor base running!!!
CPU baserunning has been a problem for me for as long as I can remember in this game. I stopped creating outfielders in RTTS because there was an extremely rare chance of any excitement in potentially throwing someone out.Comment

Re: I have had it with this poor base running!!!
Anyone know if pitchers being hit by comebackers on the mound and staying in the game will be fixed this year? I’ve never once seen a pitcher have to be taken out after it. I’ve hit 110mph line drives right into their pitching arm and they’ve stayed in the game. Just something I’ve wondered. If anyone knows lmk!
