    Re: Heidi Watney

"Sideline Reports" in any sport are my least favorite part of any broadcast. Not just the "lets hand the microphone to a pretty girl and have her talk about something". I have to say the women on most broadcasts that do this are quite knowledgeable about the sport they are covering. Heck, in real life, Heidi is way better than A-Rod and Jessica Mendoza, who are IN THE BOOTH for ESPN... (poor Matty V for having to put up with those two).

That's not the issue at all, I can't stand pointless interruptions from male sideline reporters either. Oh yeah, interviewing coaches or other players in the dugout during an inning also grinds my gears.

Problem is, I love the rest of the presentation in The Show. I never switched to fast play. If they don't make it easier to skip Heidi that will be disappointing to me. Even if they tripled or quadrupled the number of cut scene scripts she records to make them less repetitive, don't think I would care.

I couldn’t stand A-rod while he was playing but I actually kind of like him in broadcasting. He’s very knowledgeable when it comes to hitting like him or not.

As a lifetime yankee fan i second this comment i could not stand him either but he does do a good job as a commentator. So Heidi will be returning? has there been any info on her lines and role being expanded? i missed any information on presentation/commentary. I figured small additions of lines accross the board would be added like usual. Has the whole smoltz in the booth rumor been figured out? saw the comment on mlb network about not knowing he was in the game as a player but knew he was in the game..sorry if i missed those answers

Presentation is going to be discussed in one of the upcoming streams.

          I forget which one.

I will give you that. His hitting commentary is applicable. And nobody could be worse than Joe Morgan was... He would say something about a play, then on the replay it would show he was wrong, but he would try to cover for it to prove his point. Again and again...

As someone still playing 16, I had the opportunity to try 19 for free via PSN. I closed the app once I realized I couldn't skip. I say that as someone who has always liked the full broadcast style of past iterations, seeing the catcher throw the ball back to the pitcher, seeing the foul balls, etc. The fact that SDS removed certain elements years ago because "people just press X anyway" but made her scenes forced is laughable. But I guess that's one way to achieve the goal of "we paid for/made this, so you're going to watch it."

Her scenes aren’t forced though. Yes there is an initial delay when she comes on the screen, but you can eventually skip as I did often when o got tired of the repetition in her commentary

That's the only scene where holding/mashing x doesn't readily have an effect i.e. "forced". "Forced" to see her on-screen, at minimum, even though I have all commentary off. Yes, I'm aware that you can finally "skip" once there's the transition to the on-deck player.

Who isn't even the right guy! This whole thing is horrible. I hope they let us skip or have an option to not have her show up. Very repetitive which is to be expected if you play every game. I turn off all announcers as I just can't listen to Plesac spew the same stuff game after game.

Mushmouth Plesac is the worst, he absolutely cannot read lines. IRL he's alright when he's speaking off the cuff ad-libbing, but he bumbles over his lines so badly he makes Sylvester Stallone sound like Morgan Freeman. I really hope John Smoltz is replacing him in the booth. I only play with commentary on 1 out of every 5 games, but even that is too much Mushmouth

                          This made me LOL.

I don't hate the commentary, but I don't like it either. Matty doesn't bother me, his stuff is fine, what bothers me is when the color guys drone on and on and on while I'm 5 pitches later and they're still talking about a pitch from 5 minutes ago.

Every so often, there comes a time when there is no talking and just Matty something like "fouled off to the right".....and then it's quiet.....and it's great when that happens.

Damn I would love Smoltz in the booth! I just dont know if it's happening.

Was chatting with Robert Flores from MLB Network on his stream last week and he said he didn't know anything about Smoltz being in 20 as a broadcaster... But it's very possible that he knows and can't say anything.

But you would think that would have been highlighted on the Twitch stream schedule.

I don't mind Heidi. But the "flat out" annoys me. And I wish she would say something how it is a good pitchers duel instead of saying my offense is struggling. I do like when she rattles off some stats. Like the other day, she said that I had 6 hits with a 2 strike count. We need more of that.

yeah, the only thing I've heard is that Smoltz supposedly said he knew he was in the Show this year, but he didn't know he was in as a player. and it seems the trend is to introduce somebody new in an effort to keep commentary fresh. Heidi was new in 19,
DeRo was new in 18, Plesac and Reynolds were new in 17, Allegri was new in 15. 16 didn't have anybody new, it was the last year of Karros & Lyons. 14, nothing new, 13 Lyons was new, 12 was the last of Soup, 11, Karros was new and the last of Rex. 06 to 10 was as steady as it's ever been.
