What did you expect? It was pretty much exactly what I expected.

The only thing left to be determined is if CPU teams can be set from the start and if they can, then do they have any purpose beyond just allowing you to play games.

So pumped up for that Helton card. Can’t wait to replay the 2000 season on playerlock and win him his rightful MVP.

Online leagues with no off-season...no draft, no free agents, no resigning, no prospects, no player development...why...how...what happened?

Maybe that is why they did not call it Online Franchise.

If you expected all of that then you have not been paying attention. They would have mentioned it in the videos earlier in the week.

Considering it was called online leagues before SDS removed it and the mode had the off-season for years, I’m likely not the only who was “paying attention” and expecting that to be there by default.

What’s the point of playing multiple seasons with no roster turnover, players aging, scouting, etc?

I see the point based on past jargon used, but it's been pretty clear what this would be all week. Multiple seasons is there to avoid re-doing sliders and other small things, plus it needs to be there if they want to build on it as the years go by anyway. All the hints seem to indicate this was a first step and they just focused on making sure it actually works first since they started from scratch and are not using any of the old franchise infrastructure.

To be clear though, do I think this becomes online franchise eventually down the line? I would not count on it still based on how few people use it in 2K and Madden (and I only say that because those two games use an existing infrastructure, while Show does not) so I don't think you'd get a complete online franchise unless they re-do regular franchise. Because, again, remember that 2K and Madden re-did their franchise modes and part of it was making them fully online even for offline stuff.

But do I think you'll get basic fantasy drafts, player progression, minor leagues, off-season moves eventually? Yes, I think that eventually gets here. (This is all just me giving personal opinion.

They never said you couldn’t start with CPU teams.. they also never said you could.

The only real downer I heard was MLB live rosters update during your league. Meaning players can get the benefits but not the negatives (movement).

This is what I've been saying too . I don't see them bringing this current franchise build With all these legacy issues they have yet to touch to an online mode.

My good friend who was a pro baseball player in the White Sox and Angels organizations gave up a home run to Todd Helton and Larry Walker back to back in a spring training game.

I hope they build upon this in the future. Customization is key. If you could use a custom roster and choose how many user and cpu teams would be awesome. Also be able to rebrand any team and this mode in the future could have some potential but as it is right now, I have no interest personally

I never got into Online Franchise back in the day but I have played a good amount of DD since it's blown up. Though I will say though I have gotten pretty bored with the current DD landscape of playing Ranked Seasons each month.

I am really looking forward to finding a Custom League with 30 other people, whether it's organized on a forum site or just through the game and PlayStation.

I want to control the Mets and play a full season and see how well I can do. Maybe do some trades to help build the roster out and try to win a championship.

Yeah good call, but I guess we were maybe hoping this would be the year those issues would be resolved...

I didn’t get the chance to watch the stream live but I did watch Mills do a breakdown. Definitely not for me but Mills did point out the trade hub and that they didn’t show the trade block because they’re saving that for the MTO stream. He hinted that the NTO trade block would be something improved. Let’s hope it makes it into franchise as well.

Think this would not shock me as their next step before adding more offseason/multi-season stuff. It would more fit in line with their trajectory, and again, I think I would be more into this (from a purely competition standpoint!) if that happened before the more "online franchise" type elements.

Because then you're still getting fun fantasy stuff, and you can then pretty much set up any sort of season structure with a bunch of friends or not many people at all with a bunch of CPU. I would care much more about that in an online setting than getting an MLB Draft in the offseason or even long-term progression -- at least in terms of priority.
