Will MLB The Show on PC change the game forever?

I know that MLB The Show has not 100% confirmed that they will be releasing future titles on PC, but all the buzz surrounding their new licensing agreement suggests that it is not out of the realm of possibility.

I understand with all the hype over MLB 20, and the soon to be released PS5 that most people aren't gonna talk about The Show on PC until its confirmed and revealed.

But I think its a very interesting conversation to be had.

The potential for the MLB The Show series as a PC game is huge. I am not a huge PC gamer, but I know its very hard to dispute the PC not being superior to the consoles. I don't think I've ever owned a game on console that was better than it's PC counterpart. And although Sony SDS has strictly released PlayStation titles, I can't imagine they'd deliver a weak PC version of their game (if they were to pursue it)

The thing that excites me the most about MLB The Show potentially being on pc is the idea of mods and hacks being implemented. Like I said, I'm not a huge pc gamer, and I wouldn't know how one would get around to making a mod for this game, but if this were to release on PC, it would only be a matter of time until you see things like metal bats, 8 ft tall players, 200mph fastballs, and other gimmicky mods flooding your MLB the show YouTube search.

it would change my experience forever. the sheer amount of little things that would be able to be edited would be insane. I'm almost positive I'd get fired if the Show came to PC's. and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I've always wanted incentive for early retirement, this would cinch it

I always feel like the wet blanket in these threads, but the fact that it hasn't been announced seems a clear message that it's not likely to happen.

Also we have no idea how difficult The Show could potentially be to mod. While popularity is the biggest factor, ease of modding can have a huge impact on said game's mod scene. There is a reason why the Skyrim mod scene is second to none. Jeez I made a mod to Skyrim. And I suck at modding. Seriously.

I am a PC gamer first and a PS4 fan 2nd, so I will only get PS4 games if it is 'exclusive'

Yes this would be a huge game changer for me, we could mod the game have rosters edited service time editable. who knows people might be able to dive into graphics and change uniforms and stadium detail. so many options out there. sounds of the show wouldn't have to be limited, maybe rosters free agents would have no limit (like back in the madden pc days)

The same thing was said in madden threads for years about Madden not coming back to PC.

The same was said about mods and how limited we would be.

The truth is, there is a reason about every Xbox game gets a PC version now. If it comes to Xbox, there is a good shot at PC getting it as well.

And Madden is a very hard game to mod, or was. Not sure how much of a modder you are, but I am a very active modder (Madden PC community knows my work even though I’m taking a break from Madden) and developer. If this game comes to PC, watch out.

This would be incredible. I’ve always been a console guy, but the older I get and the more I play single-player offline franchise modes, the more I’m thinking a gaming PC will be my next gen purchase.

I really only play PES 20 and MLB the show. PES modulated is incredible, I can only imagine what MLBTS will be like.

I’m actually waiting on this news as well to determine if I’ll get a PS5 or PC.

Madden has been on PC for 2 years now lol. And don’t mistake play anywhere as their PC releases. Almost every Xbox game has an actual PC release.

Not sure how “hard” it is but Madden is modded to the 100th degree. Ive seen a mod that basically made madden an NCAA football game. Jerseys , stadiums, and everything.

I own a PC, Xbox and PS4. The 3 games I play the most are NBA2k, Madden, Fifa....all on the PC.

The only reason I own a pc is because its pretty easy to add mods and modding makes sports games incredible. Like right now, I'm playing an NBA 2k game with a ESPN presentation package, a modded arena with improved lighting and real life ads and dornas and several players with modded faces and tats.

Its awesome. If I could do that for the Show, I would sell my ps4.

If The Show ends up coming to PC I will sell all my consoles, sell my current MacBook, and spend all my tax return for that year just on a gaming laptop and monitor setup.

Having The Show, Madden, 2K, FIFA, etc. all on PC would seriously change sports gaming for years to come.

The real issue right now is that we've not seen any announcements that Sony has partnered with any online distributor services (like Steam) for MLB.

EA already had their own service (Origin) to distribute games so it wasn't a huge deal to do so for Madden (but even then, they STILL haven't done a PC version of NHL this gen).

There's no guarantee that we see MLB on ANY new platforms next year (we only know that it will be able to happen - but no game announcements have been made and likely won't be until October/November if I had a guess). And as of right now, there's no guarantee we will ever see it on PC.

I get the potential (I played modded MVP 05 for YEARS on PC); but sports games on PC have never done as well as the the console versions.

Personally, I'm not going to torture myself thinking about what it could be when the likelihood it happens is so low.
