Trout is a no brainer obviously... only DeGrom I don’t agree. Don’t get me wrong he’s an amazing pitcher but I don’t think he’s a 99.

there should only be 1 or 2 99's IMO, either 1 99, to rule them all... or... The Rule of 2.

if it's 2, 1 pitcher & 1 everyday player, Trout & deGrom. Scherzer was money in the playoffs, but him being a 99 is like making MadBum a 99 back in the day. lol

Gerrit Cole was the most dominant pitcher I saw last season. Guy was simply fire all year and in the post season. Dominant.

He would be my 99 pitcher.

I wish they rated players more like 2K. Wish there wasn't any 99 overalls.

I'd have Arenado and Scherzer at 97 if it were up to me. Can't be mad with the ratings though. I feel like baseball is the easiest sport to rate players and I think it shows every year. SDS does a good job with live roster ratings.

Not sure how you can rate this many guys 99s and not include Yelich.

Rating Arenado a 99 ought to be indefensible. The guy's slashed ?.265/.323/.476, 109 wRC+ on the road for his career. He's a great defender anywhere, but he's a league average hitter away from Coors Field. Wildly overrated in both the game and real life. They really need to get better about park effects in this game.

Trout and deGrom should be the only 99’s in my opinion. Best hitter and pitcher in the game.

Arenado and Scherzer should be a tad lower. Maybe 97 overall for them.

I've loved the Nats for over a decade, but IMO, the only way you can rate Max at 99 is if his durability is close to 40.

I agree that Trout DeGrom and maybe Cole should be the only 99’s.

                            Here's the thing....

in MLB, you can have VASTLY different player builds calculate out to a 99 overall. Just because a guy is a 99 OVR doesn't mean he is a perfect, all-around baseball god. They are still going to have weaknesses.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Don’t they base it on the past 3 seasons and not only just on the latest one? Pretty sure I’ve heard that before. If that’s correct then I don’t really think there’s any argument that Scherzer shouldn’t be rated higher. If we are going based only on last season Cole should definitely be rated as high or higher then Scherzer but like I said I don’t think that’s the case. If Cole repeats his dominance from last year he’ll probably be starting out in the 99 overall club in next year’s game.

If Cole repeats I think there’s a good chance he could get bumped up to 99 overall during the season in a roster update.
