Re: OS Roundtable: Excitement Level for MLB The Show 20?
Its funny all posts positive or negative seem to revolve around franchise,
Whats the game mode they ignore the most...
Reminds me of the simpsons episode with homers brother "youre not giving people what they want, youre telling them what they want!"
Im just happy we finally we can relocate im excited personally

Very high.
I'm looking forward to playing with the new gameplay changes, especially on defense. The new animations for the outfielders, new homerun robbing animations, the risk/reward for diving for a ball, and the new catcher blocking animations are all very welcomed additions.Comment

Re: OS Roundtable: Excitement Level for MLB The Show 20?
I’m at a solid 9.7
I’m excited to dive into my yearly RTTS and Franchise. I’m excited to run through some MTO after some much needed improvements. I’m excited to dive into DD again, with the new Team Affinity structure it should last all year. I’m intrigued by Showdown. And of course I’m trying to find a great Custom League that’ll get my online competitiveness juices going without the frustration of DD online, and while playing with current MLB rosters.
Did I miss anything? I’m hyped!Comment

Careful 1st iterations of the game on new consoles were very bland for ps3 and ps4. Usually the 2nd year is the big jump, at least visually. Best to be cautiously optimistic not hyped

To the question originally posted, I am still excited. My excitement peaked during the DD stream (sorry franchise guys).Comment

Re: OS Roundtable: Excitement Level for MLB The Show 20?
I was boiling hot excited. Every stream after the RTTS stream took the excitement level down. I was hoping for some subtle logic changes to franchise, which does not require programming. That can be done with dev tools and some testing. One week of adjustment would have been nice to financials, progression, trades and drafts...
Then when I found out the trade hub was not in for franchise I bottomed out.

Re: OS Roundtable: Excitement Level for MLB The Show 20?
I am not going to lie, I am conflicted. While I am super excited to see SDS acknowledge the work the full
Minors guys do and include it day one. I have a feeling once the newness wears off it is going to be the same stale experience that I have been getting tired of more quickly every year.
Franchise just feels so repetitive with the minimal Changes they have made over the years. I am not a fan of M2O, RTTS, and I definitely will never set foot in DD. So I am left with trying to cover the warts and legacy issues Of franchise by using my imagination. I used to play the show well into August, but the last three years it is usually out of my rotation by June as I wait for madden release to approach.
I am still getting it day one early release, and will be taking a “personal” day Friday and Monday
Most likely I will be sort of excited day 1 when setting the game to my liking and and playing the first game or 2. And then I will start to realize pretty quickly that the PS4 is getting old and MLB The Show 20 is not much better or different then 19 or even 18 and so on. And I will be thinking dam I have a whole year before MLB The Show 21 on PS5 comes outlol
But it's still baseball and I still enjoy 19 so 20 can't be any worse.
The good news is I am sure SDS has big plans for next gen baseball some of which may blow us all away!!!Last edited by tnixen; 03-10-2020, 03:41 PM.Comment

pretty high. I already have the early GS Friday release reserved and fully paid for... but I'd be willing to drive a couple hours tonight if I knew where Mom & Pop are selling early.
I'm not opposed to having a second copy, especially if I break one if I feel cheated losing to Houston at some point this yearOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: OS Roundtable: Excitement Level for MLB The Show 20?
I'm a franchise player and the streams seem totally focused on DD which I have no interest in.
The lack of injuries in franchise, played out games ended off being a pretty big issue for me. My roster stayed complete while opponents had injury problems. Just felt like cheating to me.
Facing the same 3 bullpen pitchers every series, regardless of how fatigued they were, also sucked. The AI does not use relievers realistically at all. Also made it feel like cheating when it kept bringing in exhausted pitchers who got shelled.
Also, I'm still a bit steamed they removed season without letting us know before we bought the game. Because of that, it's not what they are telling us, it's what they're not telling us that concerns me and I'm not going to put out any money without knowledge of changes/fixes to franchise.
Season is what I prefered to franchise since season didn't use the progression/regression stuff and since I've never played more than 1 season by the next version, the franchise thing didn't interest me. Carrying a franchise over would result in retired players having different names in the new version.
The only plus I've seen for franchise is full minors since having the announcers give us a number rather than a name when the player was at bat sucked, but since that wasn't a super major issue to me, it nowhere near enough to convince me to buy.
I'll wait to see what people say after release, but if there is nothing new other than full minors, I'll pass on this version and probably any future versions unless it makes it's way onto PC. I'm not going to be getting PS5. I'm starting to get rid of all PS only games in favor of PC games. Since I've always been a PC player, I was real late coming to PS, but PC games are much better with all the options you have to make the game as good as possible for your system.Last edited by JHodges57; 03-10-2020, 06:56 PM.Comment

Re: OS Roundtable: Excitement Level for MLB The Show 20?
I am very excited for MLB The Show 20. I took some time off from gaming. Life just got in the way, that happens sometimes. It has been a while since I played a MLB The Show game. In the past I bought a PS2 and a PS3 just so I could play The Show. Will be good to get back to it again.Comment
