I was amazed at how many I had. Two were in a single game.

    Lineup
    1.CF Mario Dorta (77) Rookie
    2.2B David Bote (80)
    3. C Kyle Schwarber (84)
    4. RF Gary Scruggs (76)
    5. LF Justin Upton (77)
    6. 1B Devin Jackson (81)
    7. SS Alan Quick (78)
    8. 3B Josh Donaldson VS RHP Marwin Gonzalez Vs LHP (71/74)

5 years in not looking good. Most teams dont have starters below an 80 at this point.

The injuries were Baez (97), Sano (87), Browning (82), and Paolucci (77)

Paolucci I love. Hes only a C potential but hes a 77 and his hitting is

76/81 Contact, 75/76 power. His fielding is bad, but he plays so much better than his overall indicates.

His season so far was going great. .312AVG, 9HR, 28RBI in only 173 AB's.

I am hoping I can somehow get in. We shall see!

This is by far my favorite thread every single year!

Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances I have retired my carryover franchise after 8 seasons. It was a hell of a ride, but I am committed to re-starting and taking the current Cardinals roster and get them into the postseason and then build this team in my vision for the years to come.

I am hoping to get Spring Training started tonight, but I am waiting on the roster update that drops at Midnight and checking out those rosters before doing so.

Enjoy and good luck to everyone in MLB The Show '20! I hope we have some World Series Champions!

EDIT: I will not be starting over. I tried playing with the current team and all I could do was think about the team that I built and wanting to acquire the players to rebuild that team, and some were impossible because they were draft picks.

So...despite the "issue" that I have with re-doing the offseason, I'm going to redo it in '20 and roll with it. I went back to an old save right after the World Series and took care of as many bad contracts as I could by force retiring those players. So this offseason should be better than the one I completed where I completely forgot to do that "trick".

So I'm starting my offseason now and whatever happens...happens. I'm not going to concern myself with where guys signed my first go through and what not. Just going to let it play out, because I simply cannot start over....I'm too invested/attached to this team and franchise universe.

So here we go...2024/2025 has begun!
      I need help.
      Anyone do franchise?
Im getting 10 hits a game.
      AI players swing at garbage
I have them ticked 1 above me in sliders im on dynamic all the way up on all star.
Im not fearing any opposing lineups or pitchers.
How can i make it even? I want my skill to win not the easy gameplay.
      Please help

        JULY 21, 2020 | CHICAGO, IL

The Chicago Cubs mustered just one run against their cross-town rivals as they fell to the White Sox Tuesday night at Wrigley field, 4-1. Tyler Chatwood completed six innings but took the loss, falling to 5-5.

The Cubs have now lost three of four since the All-Star break, but maintain a comfortable 7 1/2 game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central division.

          PITTSBURGH PIRATES FRANCHISE

          May 4, 2020

A month of the season down, and the Pirates are 19-15! This team is definitely exceeding expectations. Pittsburgh sits in second place in the NL Central, 4.5 games back of the Reds who look like a powerhouse early on. The Brewers and Cubs are close behind, and the Cardinals are slipping early at 9-26.

I’m cautiously adjusting my expectations of this team. On paper this is a straight rebuilding year, one that would see a hot start like this snapped by a single unfortunate losing streak. However, this team has already suffered 5- and 6- game losing streaks early on and rebounded from both. In fact, since losing 6 in a row in late April the team has won 7 of 8.

I figured the NL Central would be competitive aside from us. But it looks like, for now, we will be in the thick of things this summer. I’m not getting my hopes too high, but I now believe this is a team that can hang around .500.

The offense has displayed exceptional bat-to-ball skills thus far. What we lack in home run power we make up for in gap power, currently ranking 1st in the NL with 72 doubles. The Pirates have also struck out fewer than any other team in the majors (220). The next lowest strikeout total is 240.

Erik Gonzalez (.417/.475/.639 in 36 AB’s) and JT Riddle (.302/.333/.395 in 43 AB’s) have both been unreal off the bench.

Josh Bell is putting up MVP numbers so far, slashing .305/.401/.678 with 12 homers, tied with Freddie Freeman for most in the majors.

Ke’Bryan Hayes figures to be in the mix for Rookie of the Year, slashing .272/.328/.368 with 8 doubles.

Jarrod Dyson hasn’t kept up with the rest of the team, and his .118 batting average (34 AB’s) is not nearly enough to justify his elite defense. He will be a DFA if he doesn’t turn things around ASAP.

Sophomore slump is real for Bryan Reynolds. He’s hitting .208/.280/.331 out of the 3-hole. I’ve put off dropping him in the order with the hope that he’ll turn it around.

The pitching hasn’t been nearly as good, but there are signs they are turning it around. Mitch Keller was a bad start away from getting sent down to AAA but has turned in two solid outings in his last two starts. He, Trevor Williams, and Chad Kuhl all have ERA’s over 5. Joe Musgrove has been even worse (7.33) but he did pitch 5.1 scoreless in his most recent start. Archer has been the best starter, sporting a 3-0 record and a 3.44 ERA. He’s already matched his 0.6 WAR from 2019.

Richard Rodriguez and Keone Kela have both been solid in the back of the pen. Kela has converted 11 of 12 save opportunities and through 17 appearances is sporting a beastly 1.29 FIP.

Robbie Erlin has been a horse, leading the team with 5 wins (all in relief) and pitching to a 2.33 ERA in 27.0 IP.

If this team is going to be somewhat competitive, I’ll have to clean up the rest of the pen. Lucas Sims, Nick Burdi, and Clay Holmes have all been bad. All 3 are either out of options or under Rule 5 restrictions (Burdi) but none have been able to put it together. Steven Brault will be off the IL in 2 weeks so one of them will probably hit the waiver wire when that happens.

I’m not holding out for a playoff run, but I believe a little more in this team than I did at the start of the year.

            Never Too Late
Six run seventh leads to victory for Twins

            May 17, 2020
Minneapolis--- For much of Monday evening, it was a discouraging outing for the Twins hitters, but then they woke up in the seventh inning and scored a six spot, capped by a two-run homerun from Marwin Gonzalez, and Minnesota beat the visiting Baltimore Orioles 8-4.

The Twins had runners on against O’s starter Hector Velazquez quite a bit but just could not get that big hit. Velazquez gave up eight hits in his five innings of work but only allowed two runs.

The Twins held a 2-1 lead after six and starter Jose Berrios was on cruise control, allowing only one hit through the first six. He came out for the seventh and gave up two runs on three hits, only recording one out and looked to be heading for his sixth loss. Matt Wisler (1-0) came on and got the final two outs of the inning.

Then the Twins’ bats woke up in the seventh, plating six runs on five hits and a walk off relievers Shawn Armstrong (0-2) and Jace Fry.

The Twins pounded out 14 hits on the night, led by three-hit performances from both Nelson Cruz and Max Kepler. Gonzalez and Josh Donaldson each contributed two hits.

Taylor Rogers came in for a one-out save in the ninth. It was his eighth save of the year.

Minnesota will host Baltimore again tomorrow night as Kenta Maeda (7-2, 2.24) will get the ball for the Twins and the O’s will send out Alex Cobb (1-5, 4.47). First pitch is set for 6:40 PM.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

Finished my first season playing every game, I haven't been able to do that since college, I usually have to sim some.

Made a few trades throughout the year to bolster the team. Added Villar, Jason Castro and Trevor Buer. Went into the playoffs without Sanchez(hurt for season), Severino was out for season already, and DJ is out until world series at least.

Judge, like real life, was hurt most of the year and I really came to love Florial(won rookie of the year.) I had setup real injuries so was missing Hicks for half of the season. All in all we won the division and had monster years from Torres and Stanton.

First round of playoffs I just beat Houston in 5. Had to beat them on the road games 1 and 5. Only negative about the game was the early season defensive issues, that are resolved now, that inflated my error totals and home runs. Playing legend and even moving cpu and human power down you can see I hit record homers. I also had hum contact down.

Fun so far looking forward to trying to bring the chip home.

                    PITTSBURGH PIRATES FRANCHISE

                    May 7, 2020

Pirates wrap up another successful road trip, which consisted of a sweep of the Cubbies, taking 2 of 3 from the Marlins, and a split of a short 2-game set at Yankee Stadium. There’s a sense of renewed optimism around this team, which returns home with a 20-16 record. The Pirates haven’t been nearly as successful at PNC Park this year, with a 4-9 home record. They’ll try to turn that around in the upcoming homestand against the Phillies and Cardinals.

We made a few moves before the homestand. RHP Clay Holmes was designated for assignment and placed on outright waivers. We had made a spot for Holmes with the hopes he could make some progress with his command pitching in mop up duty. He hasn’t, and now that the team is winning, I can’t afford to hold on to more than a couple reclamation projects.

RHP Michael Feliz was recalled from AAA Indianapolis. Feliz was lights out serving as the closer in AAA, and hopes to work his way back into a high-leverage role in the majors after previously clearing waivers in March.

C Luke Maile was optioned to AAA Indianapolis and we have purchased the contract of C John Ryan Murphy from AAA. Maile struggled with the bat serving as our backup catcher, meanwhile Murphy was hitting .282 with power as the starter in AAA. Murphy figures to occupy the weak side of a platoon with current starter Jacob Stallings.

The tough part about winning during a rebuild is that I need to somewhat pivot away from keeping spots open for projection guys that maybe aren’t ready to play now. Holmes was out of options but clearly also not ready for the majors. Guys like Lucas Sims and Nick Burdi are going to be on much shorter leashes now that it looks like we could be a competent team.

Mancini Slam Leads O’s Past Twins
                      Maeda’s one mistake dooms Minnesota

                      May 18, 2020
Minneapolis--- In a game of baseball there are 54 outs over nine innings. On Tuesday evening, it was one Kenta Maeda pitch that decided the fate of the game. With two outs and the bases loaded in the third inning, a 3-2 fastball to Trey Mancini was deposited into the left field seats and that was all the Baltimore Orioles would need as they knocked off the MInnesota Twins 4-2.

“I was trying to go in,” commented Maeda through his interpreter following the game. “It stayed out over the plate, and he made me pay.”

Maeda (7-3) allowed only four other hits over his seven innings of work. He walked one with six strikeouts.

Minnesota’s offense was held in check by a fatigued Orioles bullpen. A night after getting beat up and giving up the lead, the O’s pen was put to work again early as Alex Cobb left in the third with an apparent shoulder injury. The team of Richard Bleier, Shawn Armstrong, Danny Barnes, Tanner Scott and Michael Givens held the Twins to one run and four hits over the final six and two-thirds innings. Givens got the final four outs for his tenth save of the year.

As for Mancini, he had two doubles yesterday and now the big fly today.

“I have been feeling good at the plate lately,” he said. I just have to keep putting together quality major league at-bats and hopefully the rest of these young guys will catch on.”

The young guys will hope to catch on tomorrow afternoon as the Orioles will go for the series win. The Orioles will offer up former Twin Kohl Stewart (1-4, 6.87) while the Twins will send out Jake Odorizzi (1-3, 4.14). First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 PM.

I'm not one of the trade calc guys, but I can see some logic in that one. Bucs get a placeholder 1B to buy time for Will Craig and/or Mason Martin (who isn't in some rosters but has some serious thump). They have zilch at catcher in the system and who can argue with an A prospect regardless of position. Probably should have a lotto ticket arm in there but can't with the limited trade slots. And Bell goes home to Texas early before Boras puts him on the market.

Marlins use long ball to win Game 1 of the NLDS

The Miami Marlins slugged 3 solo homeruns including back to back homers in the 2nd inning, and a strong pitching performance by 2025 NL Cy Young Award winner Caleb Smith to topple the Cardinals 4-2 in Game 1 of the NLDS.

The Marlins jumped out 2-0 in the 2nd inning behind back to back homers by Ronald Acuna Jr and Nick Castellanos off of Kyle Funkhouser. The Cardinals got one back in the 3rd when Dylan Carlson launched a solo shot into the left field bullpen to make the score 2-1. But Rafael Devers would launch another solo shot off of Funkhouser in the 5th to push the lead to 3-1. In the 8th, Devers would strike again for a RBI double that pushed the lead to 4-1. The Cardinals made it interesting in the 9th by scoring a run on a single by Harrison Bader, but a buserunning mistake by Samuel Franco cost the Cardinals a chance of bringing NL MVP Brendan McKay to the plate in the 9th. Franco's out was just the 2nd out, but Dylan Carlson would fly out on a 1-2 pitch to end the game.

Game 2 is tomorrow night with Jaylan Garcia getting the ball for the Marlins against Michael Wacha.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                              JULY 23, 2020 | ST. LOUIS, MO

The Chicago Cubs allowed a 3-0 lead to slip away in St. Louis but were able to rally late and earn the victory over the Cardinals Thursday night in front of a sold-out crowd at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals took the lead in the bottom of the seventh when Cubs reliever Arodys Viscaino issued a bases loaded walk. But as they've done countless times this season, the Cubs would muster some late-inning heroics.

Kyle Schwarber belted a game-tying solo shot to dead center field in the top of the eighth to tie the game and Kris Bryant delivered an RBI double in the top of the ninth to put the Cubs ahead. Craig Kimbrel struck out the side in order in the bottom of the ninth to notch his 30th save of the year and end that Cubs three-game losing streak.

The Cubs are just 2-4 since the All-Star break but manager David Ross doesn't seem too concerned. "It's all part of it," said Ross. "The season is a marathon and we're in a good place right now, we just have to make sure to keep our foot on the pedal and never allow ourselves to get too high or too low."

The Cubs will look to make it two in a row Friday as Kyle Hendricks (11-3, 4.07) will be on the bump for Chicago. Veteran hurler Adam Wainwright (5-5, 5.17) will make the start for the Cardinals.

The Cubs sit atop the National League Central division, 7 1/2 games ahead of the second place Milwaukee Brewers.

                                JULY 24, 2020

The Chicago Cubs announced today that they have agreed on a four-year deal that will begin next season for veteran first baseman Anthony Rizzo. The deal, reportedly worth $36 million will keep Rizzo in Chicago through the 2024 season.

"I'm tremendously excited that I can continue to be a part of this organization," said Rizzo. "It's been an honor to play here and I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be."

Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein stated that the extension was, "very likely," in the weeks leading up to the All-Star break, so it comes as no surprise for anyone around the organization. "We're glad that both sides could agree on a deal and get it done," said Epstein.

While Rizzo's deal may have been relatively easy, Epstein will have some tough decisions to make this offseason and moving forward. Kris Bryant has one year remaining on his contract and is slated to become a free agent after the 2021 season. Javier Baez, Kyle Schwarber, and Willson Contreras are also a few years away from free agency and Epstein and the Cubs will have to be creative if they wish to keep all of their young talent on the North Side.

Pitching will also be an area that will have to be addressed this offseason as veteran southpaws Jon Lester and Jose Quintana's contracts will expire.
