Re: I am a franchise player and I like Diamond Dynasty

See for me I've always been a career mode player or franchise player of some sort. Never really been into my team, mut or any other games similar modes.

In 2017 I hopped into DD for a brief stint and it was super fun. I just got bogged down by work and being an amateur football player didnt have much time.

Last year was unbelievable from a work standpoint I made the most money in my short lived life but also was working upwards 75 hours a week.

2020 I'm having a blast with DD I love all the moment scenarios and mini challenges. Not really a fan of conquest.. as one mentioned the CPU does not abide by the restrictions it makes the user go through. So with that being said the single player features and card collects & daily challenges make it immersive.

I'll definitely have a regular chise and a relocated chise. But DD impresses me with just how many task & achievements there are. I just wish I was better at flipping stubs like some of these YouTube guys.. i have my starting balance and that's pretty much it i refuse to add it up with microtransactions all season.

Only nba 2k gor that type of love and that was even years ago.

But DD is cool I really enjoy it and think it's only improved each year since mlbts 17

Franchise only for me since the beginning but due to the lack of improvements, I focused only on DD with last year's game. I will not be touching it much this season. At the end of the year playing to just collect high end cards wasn't a very satisfying experience for me. It didn't take long to get a full squad of all diamonds and that's without spending any money. After a while everyone has a variety of the same 30 cards or so and playing online wasn't fun with that.

I do like some of the moments and such though but just don't want to get caught up in the grind of completing each inning. Hoping franchise can keep most of my attention this year after taking last season off from it.

Conquest is confusing as hell. I have no idea what's going on and I've watched the tutorial lol. I don't get what your supposed to do
Offline modes are Showdown, Moments, Conquest - if there’s any others - I don’t play them.

Conquest was very confusing at first. But watch some YouTube tutorials on how to play. You simulate everything until you play for the stronghold.

Another fun aspect, IMO, is the community market. It’s fun buying and selling cards.

Basically you just want to take territory and only play games against the strongholds. The more territory you have, the more fans you get each round to reinforce and keep expanding. So just take as much space as possible at the start and backfill from the wide borders you make. Usually it's best.

There's also plenty of good tutorials out there for the mode on YouTube. But if you need more help we're here for you too!

Thanks for the tips. I might give it another go but unfortunately it's very unappealing to me. I just want to play baseball not mini games. No offense to anyone. If that's the only mode I can use my team in then dd is not for me.

There is also vs. Computer, where you play against a cpu controlled MLB team, and extra innings, where you play against a cpu controlled user created DD team. You earn stubbs and cards in both modes.

I love DD, but because of how busy my life is i never have time to sit and play a full game without pausing for long periods of time, so i can only play offline DD.

Re: I am a franchise player and I like Diamond Dynasty

I started playing DD (offline only) in 2018. I had gotten myself into a rut, constantly worrying about sliders, what that shiny new roster might have (prompting me to want to re-start), etc. I started playing offline DD (using the exact same 'clean screen' approach I use in franchise)...and I didn't have to worry about those things. I started focusing again on just having fun and I began to realize how good the game is at reflecting ratings and so on. After months of playing nothing but DD (18 was such an amazing year for offline DD players), I got back into franchise in a way I had never done before for this series as I realized that all the little things that us franchise guys obsess over...they don't matter. Play the game, have fun, let the ratings shine and enjoy the storylines!

In '19, my time was 50:50 between the modes, but DD time began to fade throughout the year as the offline content sucked. I went hardcore into Franchise and finished playing every game in a 162 game season (actually 163) plus playoffs for the first time ever. It was amazing!

So far with 20, I'm enjoying both DD and franchise. But which mode I play depends on what kind of game I'm in the mood for. Franchise mode is for when I want a story, DD for when I just want to smack the ball around.

As far as 20's DD mode, I'm not sure how I feel. Showdown is a fun mode (way better than generic moments) as it requires some tactical thinking. The introduction of player programs has been nice and I am curious if Stage 2 will unlock better cards for that player. Also very happy to see the Granderson program feature a Play vs CPU mission - they need WAY more of those this year. I've barely touched Conquest yet...and this is where I'm struggling with how I feel about the mode. I play DD to use my team....but I'm barely using it right now because a lot of what I am doing in the mode is not using my team/collection.

...as an aside, DD is the only card mode I enjoy and there are TWO huge reasons. One, I can play it MY WAY. I don't have to play my games on some arcade-style setting (like MUT); I can play a clean, ratings-oriented experience. Two, I never feel like I have to spend money on DD. It's easy to earn stubs and if you are smart with your purchases (I'll say this, I'm not dropping 30k on a prospect pack...right now, if I was going to spend it, I'd rather use that on a 20-pack and build the collection), you can have a tremendous team pretty early on.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Evolution cards are very fun to take your rookie cards and turn them into their diamond card. I am currently working on Dennis Eckersley going from a 77 silver to a 91 diamond.

Can you use your DD team in a traditional franchise mode? I want to be able to replace a real team with my DD team - is that possible?

                      Sadly, there is not.
