    All 2430!!!

    Hello fellow baseball fans!

I feel like a might be a little late to this party based on some of the other threads, but I'm shooting for playing every game, every team, every pitch.

And by every pitch, I mean digging into the box and taking each plate appearance for the batting team! I've never been a huge fan of pitching, so I guess think of me as the ultimate virtual designated hitter.

I'll be digging into my freshly-unlocked copy of MLBTS2020 tomorrow morning, and am super excited to get this impossible project underway.

Furthermore, I'll be using Bacon's amazing fictional rosters, as I love feeling like I'm creating my own baseball universe.

I'll update here in this thread as the games are played, but the games will also be live-streamed and archived at:

The channel already has a few sample games. I try to use visual settings that minimize any video game-y clutter on the screen.

Good luck to all the other 2430's on the forum. Let's play ball!

this is the Show's version of a triathlon. and, not to discourage, here's the tale of the tape of what's likely in store:

    186,000 plate appearances
    730,000 pitches
    43,000 innings
    2 million Heidi flat-outs
    2430 losses

To be clear, the safe bet is that I never, ever finish this nonsense. If anything, I'm just curious how far I can go.

The fast-play presentation helps me flat-out avoid Heidi!

2,430? You're a veritable amateur compared to me. I'm playing every pitch of every spring training game followed by 2,430, and then the postseason.

Step up to the plate, man.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

"What? You can't challenge a scoring play?''

If 2430 (plus playoffs) is amateur I don't want to go pro!

First 2020 impressions: A) I still don't like the MLB network presentation. B) I'm glad that Mike Lowe's sliders seem to still work in this year's edition, I'm curious to see what tweaks he has in store.

2 games in the books: Detroit @ Cleveland (overall not a bad game at the plate)

Washington @ New York N (way too many K's, too many missed RISP chances!)

In the future, I'll just post once a day with a list of all of the games that I have finished.

Royals @ White Sox (back-and-forth game with a wild finish)

Cubs @ Brewers (another game that came down to the wire)

Up to 6 games played. Trying to stay positive and remind myself that I'm facing everyone's ace on opening day. The K's are up, and runs are down, woof.

#5 - Yankees @ Orioles. Not my best game, but I also feel like I was a bit unlucky at the plate. I also will be having nightmares about New York's flame-throwing, switch-pitching ace Vince Cartwright.

#6 - Red Sox at Orioles. Whoever thought putting a bright white billboard behind the plate has clearly never batted from a broadcast perspective. Still getting K'ed way too much, I probably need to be more aggressive early in counts.

Plan on playing a NL west double-header tonight, with the Rockies traveling to San Diego and the Giant/Dodger rivalry re-igniting for 2020.

                    8 games:

Rockies @ Padres: At least one of the teams was hitting well. I also added some of the community's wonder sounds of the show clips, really adds for verisimilitude to the game.

Giants @ Dodgers: Two changes to speak of in this clash. One, no more commentary. It only took 7 games for me to grow sick of the nonsense. Two, went from fast-play to hybrid so I can enjoy the sound clips that I added. Unfortunately, the combination of those two result in me seeing the ghost of Heidi several times a game. Also, the sound clips are included in the video?

2430 games of Heidi is about 2428 too many. If you pull this off, SDS should give you next years game for free. Lol

Even playing 4 games a day means it'll take nearly 2 years to pull this off, so maybe they could give me MLBTS 22 for free?

More changes on my end. Decided against custom sounds of the show, as the the custom music clips are automatically edited out of my youtube streams and I feel like the music overwhelms the rest of the audio in the game. Also went back to fast-play, I was x-ing out of most of the extra visuals anyway.

Commentary remains off for now. Personally, I feel like I can get into more of a zone when DeRosa and Plesac aren't vomiting all over the audio. Matty V isn't bad, but can't have him without the other two.

My K's have been way too high, and my theory is that I have been way too passive early in counts trying to work counts and pitch totals. Since I bat using pure analog, I need to make more contact and give myself a chance to luck into a few more perfect/perfect swings.

                            Anyways, on to today's action!

Minnesota @ Oakland: Oakland ran into at least 3 dumb outs that I can remember. You may not be surprised to see who wins this one.

Pittsburgh @ Tampa: Loving the return to the old cursive Pittsburgh script. Also, executive order by the commissioner (me), Tampa is not allowed to play at the Trop. Henceforth, the Rays will play out of Shibe Park .

Whelp, after playing at Shibe I think I'll be incorporating more historical fields to my league, the exceptions being the Twins won't be going back to the Metrodome, nor will the Marlins go back to the previous football stadium field. However, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Washington, New York Yankees and Mets will all be playing at their historical parks. I'm still going to have the Rays play somewhere else, mayble the Polo Grounds, just to get them out of the dump that is the trop.

#11 Cardinals @ Reds: Terrible game, I couldn't get into a rhythm at all. Of note, it also was this first extra inning game of the year.

#12 Phillies @ Marlins: Now with my own commentary! Full disclosure, my audio is pretty muffled so I'll try to improve upon in for next game. In any event, I promise that I'm at least 5% less stupid than DeRosa and Plesac. Come hear a middle-aged man talk to himself as he does the virtual sports equivalent of playing house with himself!
