Got to looking around the league and saw some struggling high rated pitchers. Milwaukee is terrible so that can explain his struggles and same goes for Kintzler who is on pace to rack up the most losses of his career.

Off topic but good ol' Woody Rockwell is playing AAA ball for the Rays. I sent him back to his old team in a trade so he could finish out his career there. Anyway he's now a 61 overall but is killing it at 43 as a spot starteer and long reliever:

With the 2020 season over and the World Series trophy in our hands, it was decision-making time for the A’s front office -- keep everything intact or start tearing things down?

We made it a priority to resign three key free agents: CF Bryce Lewis, IF Enzo Hamilton, and 3B Alfonso Pena. Luckily, a bunch of our good players are in their arbitration years and they’re not asking for the moon.

The one trade we made during the Winter Meetings involved the “hero” of our title-clinching game, P Nicky Cicirelli. We sent him to the Reds for RP Carlos Aquino, CP Derek Savage (AA prospect), and SP Chandler Bliss (AAA prospect).

Our big club free agent signings: ex-Cubs OF/1B Percy Hopkins, ex-Diamondbacks SP Carson Wheeler, ex-Nationals OF Rolando Rodriguez, ex-Yankees minor league SS Russell Lint

Notable trades/free agent signings during the Winter Meetings/offseason:

-- Cardinals resigned OF Paul Keys to 7/$217M ($41.4 in final year of the deal)
-- Braves resigned SP Ethan Kintzler to 8/$244M
-- White Sox resigned C Denny Ross Jr. to 5/$132M
-- Braves signed ex-Blue Jays 2B Gordon Landry (AL batting champ) to 4/$66M
-- Cardinals signed ex-Angels SP Zheng-Zhong Soon (20-game winner) to 3/$27M

San Jose's backs were against the wall. A loss would drop them down 0-2 heading back to New Orleans. Thankfully for them, they came out firing. The Admirals scored two in the 1st, one in the 2nd, two more in the 3rd, and one in the 4th. Other than back to back solo blasts in the 6th, the Voodoo got nothing offensively, losing 10-2.

June 13th, 2021 - Michael Money pitched the first complete game shutout of his career. Money was called up to replace Kyle Johnson who is out with a torn hamstring. Through 3 starts the 24 year old Money has a 2-0 record, 0.90 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 15 K's. Money's early performances might have Johnson looking over his shoulder. The Padres front office could consider making Money a permanent fixture in the rotation which would see the departure of Johnson upon returning from his injury.IMG_20200730_234342141_1_1.jpeg

Off the top of my head, he’s still a 99 ovr and his stamina was the only attribute that took a noticeable dip. It went from somewhere in the low 90s to 83

How much did Cartwright regress after year one?

I know you weren't asking me but in late June of 2021 Cartwright has dropped to an 85. He's not on my team though, not sure if that makes a difference to decline or not.

I've been puzzling over a potential trade since last night. I'd be sending the Mets struggling reliever Hitoki Oshiro(sp?) for their reliever Torres. Torres isn't blowing guys away but he's doing pretty good and I want another lefty in the bullpen. His overall is 2 points higher they have the same potential, same contract I believe and Torres is a year younger. My problem is I can't come up with a good story/reason why the CPU would do the deal. They even threw in a solid AAA starting pitcher. The trade meter thing has it at pretty much dead even.

CPU doing questionable trades with each other is whatever but I don't want to take advantage since I'm not just following an algorithm.

I believe performance does have an influence on how much a player progresses/regresses so if he's on a CPU's team, these results may be skewed.

In most of my tests, Cartwright drops a good bit the second season and really begins to fall off after two.

We have our first team in the LCS! The New Jersey Kekambas completed a sweep of the Boston Bisons with a 4-3 win. They went ahead 3-0 in the second on a three-run blast. Boston chipped away and tied it after the 5th inning. However, New Jersey got an RBI single in the 8th that cemented it.

Padres Rotation Takes a Hit

June 23, 2021 - Early in last nights game San Diego's pitching staff was dealt a significant blow with the loss of Greg Dickerson. Dickerson left early in the 2nd inning with pain in his upper chest. Initially team doctors hoped it was just a strained muscle but a scan later revealed that Dickerson had torn his left pectoral muscle. Dickerson signed a 3 year deal with San Diego in the off-season after spending several years with the Marlins.

The signing of the 28 year old was seen as a gamble by most but it was a gamble that seemed to be paying off. Dickerson was in the midst of the best season of his career as working with pitching coach Eric Shell had Dickerson trending in the right direction. Through 16 starts he had accumulated a 6-4 record which had already equaled his win total from the previous season, a 2.31 ERA, 80 K's in 85.1 innings of work.

Dan Wallace has been brought up to fill the void. Wallace just recently returned to action himself after being out for 2 months with a fractured forearm. Wallace came in as a reliever for 2 games in the 2020 season. Prior to that he last appeared in the Majors in 2018, appearing in 31 games with an 8-6 record, 3.43 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 145 K's. The Padres hope to get a similar performance out of Wallace while they wait for Dickerson's return.

If Wallace struggles the Padres could platoon the 5th starter spot rotating in Alexzander Starks and Buddy Bishop both of whom are having solid season thus far in long relief roles and are capable of going at least 5 to 6 innings. The loss of Dickerson could signal a reprieve for embattled starter Kyle Johnson. It's widely known that the the front office had been looking to ship Johnson off before the trade deadline but that plan might now be off the table.

This was a Game 5 that lived up to the hype. Orlando fell behind 2-0 but scored three in the 3rd to take the lead. They added to it over the next few innings thanks to a strong effort by Buck Shauver. However, the bullpen struggled, giving up four in the 8th to allow Washington to take a 6-5 lead. In the bottom half, Orlando scored one to tie it. The drama was high entering the 9th. That's when Denny Ross Jr. belted a two-run walk-off homer to send Orlando to the ALCS against the San Jose Admirals (who beat New Orleans 3-2).

The Padres were on fire in June, 21-5 record for the month. Since we're almost at the All-Star break I'll wait until then for an in depth review of our season so far and more news from around the league.
