Thanks to Bacon for posting the new roster. Like the new additional players. I have went ahead and started my Franchise with the Detroit Tigers. I am a big Tiger fan, and will enjoy trying to take this team to the World Series. I have a big decision to make right off the bat, with regards to my Starting Pitcher Ethan Kintzler. He is rated 99 Overall, and is just filthy. He is coming up on Free Agency, and there is a decision to be made on whether to sign him long term. When looking at giving him an Extension, I am not quite sure he even wants to stay in Detroit. I have offered him the MAX deal I can afford, and he still does not have full interest in staying. He is a California kid, and I think he wants to go out West.

I know I can always just turn budgets off, but I find it to be some what realistic to keep them on, for instances like this? So the back and forth decision is whether to keep him for a run at the playoffs, or to trade him. In doing trade searches, there are some teams offering premium prospects and an everyday player to acquire him. Anyone have any thoughts?

For anyone that has missed the boat on this roster... it is hands down the best roster in any sports game... and that goes against IRL and fictional rosters.

This comes from a guy that needs a IRL franchise. I'm going to run a second, every-pitch / 162 game franchise with Bacon's roster.

Quick question for you Bacon. Playing a few games with the new roster in Spring Training. I have a franchise going with last years and also the updated 20 roster. Between the updated roster this year and this roster you just dropped. Which would you say is the most balanced for long term play? Don't get me wrong I love them all just want to hear your opinion about balance and the difference between them.

Mid May in my Cubs Franchise. In 1st place trying to get some separation from the pack. Went 8-2 in last 10 but the Reds won't go away! They're 9-1 in the last 10 and 0.5 behind me. My bench has been terrible so I made my first big move of the season.

Made a Trade with the Rangers who are 16.5 games out. I acquired 2B Ben Rouse A-73, he's 40, $9m+ contract, not big power but he does have good contact against lefties and is a decent defender. Also got LF Cole Sexton C-72, another good contact guy but his fielding is not so hot. I gave up Blair King(2B) 27 yrs old C-71, Oscar Rodriguez(OF) D-71 and a good young Starter Akira Nakajima, 23 yrs old C-72.

Figured the Rangers being so far out of the race would like to shed some salary and they got younger at 2B, a nice corner OF in Rodriguez who has some pop, and a good young starter in Nakajima. Tough part of the schedule coming up, have 7 against the Reds in the next couple weeks. These rosters make the game so much fun!

I'd say try to hang on to your big time stars if you perform well with them. Some guys who are high overall players aren't as good as their overall would lead you to believe so think long and hard to determine if they fit the mold of the players you want on your team.

I usually say roll with the newest roster. The depth is great in all versions but the newer ones are better for long term franchises imo. However, if you're already connected to a franchise, then stick with that one.

I'm currently running both (Bacon Stream Roster for my Twitch & Bacon's Fictional Update for my Blackjacks franchise) and long term, it won't be too different.

I like this trade. Rouse is a HOFer and Sexton is a front runner for ROTY. Plus the package you sent back is good so this is a nice, even trade.

This was a few days ago, so you may have already made a choice....but it's still an interesting question.

If you truly think you're primed for a WS run...well "Flags Fly Forever" and having a legit ace is going to help you get there.

The first off-season, there is the potential of a few very elite SPs being on the market (Kintzler, Wolf, plus a couple of others). Here's the thing...there is no guarantee any of the others will be on the market. So, you leave Kintzler to free agency, you could get a massive bidding war (where you'd have to commit to a massive max dollars/length contract plus player extension option) and even then, might not get it. Offer that now, you keep him...BUT....your financial flexibility goes down significantly.

Here's another way to look at things...

I'd ask myself what other positions will need to be filled in the offseason, which ones can be filled internally, and which ones will need to be filled in FA. Now, if you only need to fill a couple of spots externally, you might be able to get away with a massive Kintzler extension. If you need to fill numerous spots, you might be in a bind with that extension (forced to go with a "stars and scrubs" approach). I'd also look to see how well guys like Withenshaw, Wheeler, and Davis are developing. Can any of them step into an 'Ace' role?

Another OS buddy of mine is running a Detroit franchise - he kept Kintzler and is now in the WS....but he has a momentous offseason ahead that will shape the future of the franchise.

In my opinion, you really cannot go wrong with whatever decision you make.

Both of the above post are the reasons I love this roster so much. The fact that Detroit is in competition for the World Series is just a statement to how different these rosters are. In proves the point of having no preconceived notions of who or what is a good team/player. It truly is an amazing piece of work that adds so much to this game.

It has been said many times by myself and others, but I really don't think I could go back to a "current" roster.

Thanks for the input Josh, you have the same thinking as I do. No Moves have been done in regards to Kintzler yet. Stay tuned. In really judging the roster, I feel, it's kind of on the downfall, and it's probably a good time to start getting a bit younger. However, the Tigers do have some nice pieces in the Minors, and guys that are 26-27 years old. One thing the roster, does not have, is contact hitters, and team speed. I am kind of Old School, and like speed, defense, and Pitching, with a couple of big hitters in the middle of the line-up to drive them in. What is nice, is I have two Power Hitters, that I can build the Line-up around, Will Young, and Jaylen Pain. I have made a couple of minor moves to get some speed and Defense on the team.

I was always fond of the teams like the 80's Cardinals teams, and early to mid 2000's Twins teams. Where they are really scrappy.

While I wait for '21 drop (whenever that may be) to start year 3 with the Padres I continue the search for something to get invested in. So now I have yet another new project I just picked some random teams and started a postseason mode playthrough and am going to use Bacon's Streamed roster. Let's see if this idea sticks.
