Dont go to college. Just dont. I went through all four years to the end because it would match my age IRL, and i got drafted 4 straight drafts all to the Tigers with the first pick. Also, you start with a 47 OVR after HS I believe, after all 4 years of college I only started with a 49 OVR.

So to go back and re-enter the draft this year its honestly pointless. You dont actually grow and just lose early years.

Just quoting to second this. I played through the process five times, and was the 1st pick in round 15 to the Tigers all five times. I almost wonder if this is a bug of some sort.

Is there a way to pick your team but also go back to college for at least a year or two?

Also how do you not get called up literally right away? I’m 18 with a 62 OVR and got called up to AAA and then the MLB by July! I’m already playing on Legend and thought I was getting hit around a good amount. Might need to bump up the sliders

Really need to tweak some sliders to slow my progression down. Since I dont want to be drafted by DET I dont go back to college. Every time I keep getting called up to AAA halfway through my first season. I want it to be realistic and spend at least a full season in AA then AAA before getting called up

Started a SP, Plain Filthy with a 2 Seam, Slider, and Curveball. Mike Lowe's v1.1 sliders, Legend Meter pitching. Got drafted 15th round, 17th pick, out of HS by the Cubs......

1st game: 4 IP, 4 H, 3 SO, 0 ER. 64 pitches, 46 for strikes.

2nd game: 6.1 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 9 SO, 0 ER. 74 pitches, 57 for strikes.

I was anticipating getting hit around a bit early because of the low ratings, high difficulty, and based on other's experiences, but ive actually pretty much dominated early on, which is shocking.

Completed my first season as an OF. I didn’t play The Show 19 so the mode has changed somewhat from 18 when I played last.

I spent the first half with the AA team but was called up to the show after the all star break.
Then in the off-season I was a sign and trade. Now I am facing the next four seasons on the Red Sox (my real life favorite team) and then we see what happens. Love the changes from 18 so far.

Created starting pitcher with plain filthy archetype. Patterned him after Greg Maddux including using his signature delivery. After dominating the first half of the season in AA got called into the skipper's office right before the all-star break:

My pitcher finally started to settle in. played 3 games today.

1st game- went 8 innings with 2 hits and a shut out.

2nd game went 7 innings with giving up 1 run. ended up with a no decision

3rd game- pitched another 7 inning shut out.

Improved my stats a lot but my ERA is still in the 4s.

Im finally getting the hang of analog pitching

I like it that way. Can't just throw any pitch gotta think about it a bit.

I suspect it's a bug. I had the same issue when I created my RTTS player back in the fall with 19. I went through the draft multiple times and I was always selected in the later rounds by either then Orioles or Royals, who held the first two picks. It didn't matter if I went to college and reentered the draft -- the result was always the same.

Eventually I gave up and chose the Dodgers out of high school because I wanted to play for a National League team. I imported my player into 20 a couple days ago and had no issues.

Yeah I don't think it's a bug. Those teams have needs at just about every position so it's more likely that you end up there.

Out of curiosity, what round(s) were your players drafted in? I never performed well enough in the showcase to be selected higher than the 15th round, but I remember seeing people last year who had players selected in the first round winding up with a variety of teams.

15th round is as high as you can go. They changed that 2 or so years ago to make your player have a feel of coming out of nowhere. Not a great decision in my opinion.

Has anyone else had trouble raising the attribute cap for K/9?


I finished a full season at AA with a Flamethrower SP, but I never had a single opportunity to raise the cap (outside of a handful of in game challenges). It just never gives me the option to train my player on that ability.

All of these games are doing this and its really stale. MLB, 2K, and Madden are all "out of nowhere, started from the bottom" career modes. Its logically sound in the sense of the game starting you off with terrible attributes and low draft picks would have similar terrible ratings, but its boring af now.

Give us a HS/college season(s). Keep the scouting combine. Make our performance in the season(s) and combine influence our draft position and starting attributes.

I just had 2 pitch challenges fail back to back.

Get 3 strikeouts and give up less than 3 hits off my sinker across 3 games? Completed in the first. Play the next two and get the fail message.

Throw 20 strikes with my screwball and don't give up any HRs? Done after two, play the last game and fail.
