Analog hitting, why so fewer users

When I read various posts, I notice many use buttons. But I haven't used them in any baseball game since both 2K and The Show added analog. I just feel it's the most realistic representation of hitting a baseball. Why don't more use it though?

    2. The NHL series taught me how quickly joysticks can be ruined.

I used to destroy my joysticks when Madden was in its “hit stick” prime

Good point. Some might get so frustrated that they ruin the sticks. Even if you dont, it's still puts pressure on them on a regular basis.

I use directional/timing because while there is plenty of user skill, it still incorporates a larger influence of the attribute ratings. I liken it to the difference in stick shifts vs automatic vehicles. you can get better performance out of using a stick shift and while thats great for cars and such, it's the opposite IMO when it comes to the Show. in the Show I want it to be about the vehicle at the plate and not how good I am at the stick(s) behind the wheel
