Do they have to. Be 20 games started at DH? Or does pinch hitting count ?

It’s way to confusing on what it should be

Ohtani has the 2 way icon on the roster it should have already been one when franchise started they screwed this up. He will never okey the outfield in real life
Yes, DH is fine...you don't have to play him in an outfield position. Pinch hitting does not count, however.

      Re: Two Way Players

      Finally got one.

-Minor league games DO NOT COUNT
-the player gets an icon next to their name in the same place as an AS star or top prospect marker
-they will not gain a secondary position or any other indicator on their player card
-you still can't add them to the lineup
-there is still only one stamina bar for everything
-if your two-way guy is in the bullpen he will (seemingly) DH every day

Still need to test 2-way starters and multiple 2-ways on one team, will report back in new findings I have

I did one with Ohtani, McKay, Lorezen, and Cronenworth all on the same team. What questions do you have about SP vs RP, and multiple on one team?

Do you have a DH? Who gets autoslotted in? Are all 4 given at-bats by the CPU?

            Re: Two Way Players

Am very curious about this as well since I’m on the fence on purchasing. I control all 30 teams in franchise so you can kind of work around some things but it’s damn tedious.

Hopefully it just doesn’t auto DH a lot of the 2 way guys like it did last year. I just don’t think the logic is there yet to rotate around from hitting/pitching and the stamina issue I’m still unsure if they have a plan for.

My fault, I did it with the Padres, so most games no DH. I'll trade them all to an AL team and see what happens whenever I can get back on to play.

so why does Ohtani have the two-way icon but it still says ''no'' in his two-way slot?

Two-way player feature is broken I have hit every qualification with Michael Lorenzen and Brandon McKay and have yet to be designated as two-way players

Because you need 20 starts with him in the field and then it will say yes. Follows the current MLB rules

But he has already done this in real life.... therefore should already be programmed in on his stats in the game it makes no sense

DH SHOULD count to this rule but maybe the game doesn't count DH? and he keep counting as a 14 pitcher

So Lorenzen and McKay just got 2-way status after they hit 75 at bat anyone know why that is I thought it was 20 game started with three appearances

Were you keeping track of their IP as well? They have to pitch 20 innings too.

If you remove the designation, it says there are too many pitchers on the roster.

Also, the two-way designation option is not grayed out while the designation is Yes. It appears you can only edit it from yes to no. Once it is no, it grays out.

What still sucks is there is no way to have him bat/play a position if you don't directly go into the lineup screen each game, which means he'll never hit in sims without intervention.
I simmed in franchise and Ohtani does get put in the lineup and gets at bats on days he doesn't pitch and it requires no intervention. He gets the 2 way icon very quickly in franchise sim.

ah, thanks. I just assumed since he has the two-way icon he was a two-way player. silly me

This is a roster issue. Ohtani should be a 2-way from the jump.

In the update, it should say "yes" instead of "no," (I even tested the rule in franchise with him) but some people have apparently had it not work right even with the updated roster when loaded into franchise, which I guess is in-line with the rest of the roster glitches.
