MLB The Show 20: Gameplay Bugs and Areas To Watch So Far

Something new I'm going to try and do with sports games is sort of an aggregation...

I was thinking about the HRs and for online guys, I think it is partly an imbalance right now between hitters and pitchers along with people who use zone hitting. It's easier to exploit the game with zone hitting and lower-end hitters than it is to exploit analog/meter pitching with lower-end pitchers. For the online folks, I suspect that once more good pitchers come out, this will begin to stabilize a bit. I think they should leave things be for at least a couple of months.

There is an upside to the current balance; CPU hitters are significantly more challenging on All Star, and that is exactly what we needed. I'd hate to see the balance disrupted at this juncture...it tends to have a LOT of adverse downstream effects.

Yeah that's why I'm a big proponent of just areas to watch. I strongly believe gameplay balance should not be touched for at least a month in any sports games. I feel companies have started being too hands-on for gameplay tuning in the early stages and then it just messes them up the rest of the year.

I’m convinced vs. CPU part of the home run issue is CPU pitchers making too many mistakes in the middle of the plate. With zone hitting on it’s way to easy to hammer those pitches.

Fielding anything around the fences is hit or miss but some have said that's been the case since a couple years back. I had a play in right field (Arizona D-back stadium) and my right fielder wouldn't move when the ball bounced off the fence.

Like last year, I've had 3 or 4 instances of outfielders just not locking on to the ball and either letting it by, or one time, literally bounced off his face. It's not like last year where we were getting sucked into walls that caused the problem though, these seem almost random

Hey Chase, thanks for writing "Bacon's Fictional Roster Returns for '20". A fictional roster and the the way it opens up the experience for the player is exactly what I was looking for. The precision you can find in the Vault is great , especially historic rosters, but there something akin to frustration that can be baked into the standard game when one expects "realism" exactly as you said it.."THAT would never really happen". I downloaded it from the information you put on the article this afternoon. Thank you!

I play HOF zone and perfect-perfect is way too easy. I thought the percentage was going to be low? 2% or something like that?

I'm getting perfect-perfect quite a few times a game. Too many home runs
