Then I had a combined 4 home runs in the first inning when both pitchers were rated above 90. I just can’t handle that.
    What works for me is:

    Human Power -1
    Timing -2
    Solid hits -2

    CPU Power -2
Same with timing and solid hits

I’m not recommending these to any gamer as I’m a senior citizen with some macular degeneration/glaucoma, I just know that out of the box, for me, way too many homers. I did try zeroing out those sliders for the CPU just to see what would happen and they were definitely pretty powerless.

Do people have tips on how to pitch to avoid HR's??

I'm playing on Hall of Fame and probably 80% of the runs I give up are from HR's from the opposing team.

I listen to the catcher a lot, but even on change up's low they seem to give up HR's a lot.

Tweaking the power and hitting is most people’s first instinct but I have also gotten good results with the wind slider.

Yeah, I don't play on that high of difficulty setting, but I still had to lower the CPU power a notch or else I was giving up five HRs a game.

HR were up. MLB set a HR record. But teams could score in other ways too.

The HR's in the game are ridiculous. I've had more than 1 game where there was an inning where ONE team had 5 or more HR's. I've also had several games where ONE team had 10 or more HRs. This is MoM so it has nothing to do with how I hit or pitch.

I am not seeing a ton of HRS in my games. The average for both team combined in games I pay is prob around 3. I play in legend hitting and pitching with directional hitting. I suggest some of you try that and I bet the homeruns come down drastically

Re: What happened?! WAYYY to many HRs.

I’m seeing tons of HR’s as well. I’m ATL and my roster is the same as irl except I traded for Jorge Soler two months in my franchise.

I’m using Mike Lowes’s sliders, which includes playing on legend. I have my power slider and solid hits slider at 1 apiece and I’m still hitting 3-4 HR’s every game.

Freddie Freeman has 43 HR’s, Soler has 46. I’m currently 4 games after the All Star break.

Currently 26% of my hits are Homeruns, while last year in real life the Twins number was around 22%.

The closest team to me in the Team HR stat is more than 40 Homers behind me...

I’m scared if I turn solid hits and power down to 0 my bats will turn to noodles but it may be my only choice at this rate.

I wouldn't adjust both. And I wouldn't extreme it by zeroing out the slider.

Personally, I would look at the solid hits slider and drop it incrementally and play games to find a sweet spot. This way, if guys are able to make solid contact, power isn't nerfed and you'll still see doubles, triples, homeruns and hard hit balls, just not as frequently.

Wind plays a critical part in HRs. Turn it down to 0, 1, 2, or 3.

I put Timing and Wind at 0 and Pitch Control and Consistency at 10. That's helped.

I still have Contact, Power and Solid Hits at 5.

Well, adjusting any slider to zero doesn't lower the possibility to zero. It just lowers it as far as the game will let it go. I've never really been sure how much that is. Raising sliders always seems to have a bigger effect than lowering them.

I always lower the slider for the CPU picking off base runners to zero, and yet they still do it all game every game. I get good base stealers picked off while only taking a single step away from the bag all the stinking time.

I came back to the forums specifically for this. A near perfect game but way too many HRs. I'm 80 games into season and have played every inning. I currently have 35 HR with Stanton, 34 with Torres, 24 with Hicks and Sanchez and 20 for Voit. I have slugging % above 700 with both Stanton and Torres.
I play on HOF for both pitching and hitting. The problem is if I change to Legend I can't hit a lick anymore so I have to play on HOF. Im going to try and adjust the power slider down 2 notches and see what happens.

You're better than me! I play on Veteran+ because when I move up to All Star, I bat under .200 and give up 20 runs a game, lol. I have sliders adjusted slightly.

But like you, I'm playing every inning of my franchise. I actually started one, and ended up backing out and deleting it after about 30 games due to fixes from the first few updates. Now in franchise #2, I'm just past the All Star Game, between 90-100 games into the 2021 season after simming 2020.

The batting averages and OBPs of my players are high, but not abnormal or record setting. The HR totals for several of my players like Baez and Contrares are pretty much in line with what they are fully capable of in a healthy, productive season. But after a really, really hot week, Kris Bryant now has 35, Schwarber and Mookie Bets (free agent) have over 30, and Ian Happ, who I always rake with in The Show, has almost 30. Rizzo is in the 20s too.

I often give up 2-3 HRs per game to the CPU. In my last game, I gave up four. One game last week, the Rockies actually hit 8 against me at Coors. One of my worst losses at this dificulty setting ever. It was basically batting practice, no matter what I threw.
