    Prospect Draft Picks

New to the game of baseball... how can I tell who are the top picks in the draft? For example I’m
Detroit and I took a player first overall with 80 potential and overall of 70. Yet after draft his potential is A which I understand but his overall is 50?

What does the overall stat mean? Does 80 potential make it a given that the player will be A potential?

This and any drafting help would be great 👍

Here is some more information on the 20-80 scale from Fangraphs:
