30-team control vs CPU roster control for franchise.

I used to know the answer to this but I can no longer remember. I'm trying to explain to a friend of mine why 30-team control is advantageous compared to just selecting one team in franchise and clicking on the CPU roster control feature when you start. What's the problem(s) with CPU roster control (option) as opposed to 30-team control. I know that it's limited but I can't recall the exact details.
